Mystic Spearhand is one of the most popular Vocations in all of Dragon's Dogma 2, and using the best build with ideal skills and weapons will allow you to dominate most foes in the game.

I found that the class started off a little slow compared to some others, but really grew into its own and proved its strength as more skills were unlocked. You can even launch enemies across the entire map in-game - what's not to love?

What's the best Mystic Spearhand build?

Section Skills
Weapon Skills Dragoun's Foin / Unto Heven / Magike Speregonne / Moment's Charge
Core Skills Redoubted Bolt / Quick Fot / Winding Cut / Ferrene Bolt
Augments Endurance (Archer) / Verve (Thief) / Polarity / Athleticism / Ascendancy (Magick Archer) / Zeal (Warfarer)
Weapon Lindworm Fang
Rings Ring of Triumph / Ring of Aggression

At the heart of this build is the Forbeding Bolt ability, which freezes enemies in their tracks, leaving them open for massive damage. Having a Weapon Skill like Moment's Charge to instantly take advantage of this - albeit at the cost of health and stamina - is so strong in pretty much any fight.

To compensate for this I've tried to boost stamina and health in other areas of the build to compensate for this, with Augments like Endurance, Zeal, and Athleticism, alongside an item like the Ring of Triumph.

Other Weapon Skills like Dragoun's Foin and Unto Heven are excellent to complement this too, as they help you close distances with damage and completely remove enemies from the battle in a rather comedic fashion.

Best weapon skills

  • Dragoun's Stabbe (upgraded to Dragoun's Foin)
  • Thef's Hond (upgraded to Ravinour's Hond)
  • Mirour Vesture (upgraded to Mirour Shelde)
  • Skiedragoun's Fangtooth (upgraded to Skiedragound's Feste)
  • Unto Skie (upgraded to Unto Heven)
  • Magike Sperepelote (upgraded to Magike Speregonne)
  • Swift Charge (upgraded to Moment's Charge)

Outside of the four I selected for the build above, Mirour Shelde is the best skill you can choose for the Mystic Spearhand, as it protects your entire party from any damage for a short period of time.

This is not just helpful in those moments where an all-out attack is on its way, but it's something you'll generally want to try and always use as you fight, as it'll save you in so many situations. I like to use it when I'm reviving a Pawn too, as it protects me from any frustrating knicks of damage that would cancel the animation.

Ravinour's Hond is also a great substitute, allowing you to sap the health of a target and boost your own stamina. This is great when used in combination with abilities like Moment's Charge, as it'll negate a lot of the drawbacks and deal damage at the same time.

Best weapons for the Mystic Spearhand

  • Lindworm Fang
  • Rhewynt

Lindworm Fang is undoubtedly the best weapon for the Mystic Spearhand Vocation and is arguably one of the strongest weapons in the entire game. You can only get it from the Dragonforged though, and comes at the typical cost of 110 Wyrmslife Crystals. It boasts over 1,300 combined damage when upgraded to the max, and will strike fear into any enemy you face.

If you don't have the WLC lying around though you'll want to instead opt for Rhewynt, which has less damage admittedly but also deals frost as a status effect. It can be purchased from any endgame or new game plus shop for 68,000 Gold and is definitely worth a try if not for its ice blue aesthetic.

How good is the Mystic Spearhand in DD2?

Mystic Spearhand is a fantastic Vocation and well worth levelling up in Dragon's Dogma 2, although it does take a while to really get into its stride. It might not be quite as good as the Thief or Magick Archer which sit at the top, but it remains a super strong choice that can deal some serious damage to help you beat many of the most dangerous enemies.

There's nothing quite like Forbeding Bolt in any of the other Vocations too, making Mystic Spearhand feel unique in its approach, offering something to really turn any fight in your favour if used correctly.
