If you're a fan of hard hits and big damage then the best Warrior build in Dragon's Dogma 2 will be for you, as this Vocation more than makes up for its slower approach.

From some of the chunkiest swords you'll find in the game to ultra-powerful Weapon Skills, there's little that won't bow to your blade in the vast open world.

Best Warrior build

Selection Skills
Weapon Skills Arc of Might (Ultimate) / Razing Sweep / Diluvian Strike / Windstorm Slash
Core Skills Bulwark / Breakneck Strike / Chain of Blows / Repulse
Augments Vitality / Dominance / Intrepidity / Pertinacity / Endurance (Archer) / Verve (Thief)
Weapon Dragon's Bite
Rings Ring of Brawn / Ring of Vehemence

The Warrior is absolutely one of the strongest Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2, dealing incredible amounts of damage if you can land your hits.

Razing Sweep is perfect for when you're surrounded by lots of smaller enemies, as it lets out one big circular swipe to catch them all and often sends them tumbling away. This fits the frontline nature of the Vocation perfectly and always gives you a way to get out of trouble.

Diluvian Strike is one of my favourite abilities for the Warrior, as it simply feels so satisfying to pull off on smaller enemies. It not only deals a tonne of damage but also looks super cool too - and can even be effective when stabbing weak points on top of foes.

Windstorm Slash is an essential part of the build though, as it removes the only weakness of the Warrior - its speed - and turns you into an absolutely relentless machine. The Core Skill 'Chain of Blows' is somewhat similar to this (and still absolutely worth equipping), but Winstorm Slash just takes things to a whole new level and is an essential part of the kit.

The star of the show though is the Ultimate Skill 'Arc of Might', which is understandably overwhelmingly powerful. This does expend your entire Stamina meter, but the result is a powerful strike that not many other Weapon Skills across all Vocations can match. Just make sure that you're striking flesh and not air!

All of the Vocation's Core Skills are more than worth picking up, with Breakneck Strike and Repulse being my personal favourites. Breakneck Strike adds damage to your charged hits if you time it correctly (which you definitely should try!), and Repulse allows you to cancel enemy attacks if you hit at the same time, which is so effective against many of the strongest bosses in the game.

In terms of Augments, you're largely going to want to stick with ones that enhance your Strength, Defence, and impact your Stamina too. The Warrior is a front-line heavy Vocation after all, so having as much as possible to back you up definitely goes a long way.

This extends to the ideal Rings too, as the Ring of Brawn is immensely strong if you can manage your carry weight correctly. It specifically enhances your Strength proportionately to how low your carry weight is, so make sure to use your Pawns as storage when out on the field to maximise this!

Best Weapon Skills

  • Skyward Sunder (upgraded to Heavensward Sunder)
  • Rending Sweep (upgraded to Razing Sweep)
  • Goring Lunge
  • Surging Strike (upgraded to Diluvian Strike)
  • Revivify (upgraded to Inspirit)
  • Savage Lash
  • Knoll Breaker (upgraded to Mountain Breaker)
  • Tidal Fury (upgraded to Tidal Wrath)
  • Gale Slash (upgraded to Windstorm Slash)
  • Arc of Might

You'll have such a wide range of amazing Weapon Skills when playing as the Warrior, giving you a great selection that you largely can't go wrong with. Outside of my own personal build selections, options like Inspirit, Savage Lash, and Tidal Fury are really great and can be easily swapped.

I also loved using Goring Lunge early on in the Vocation's progression, as it gives you an easy way to take enemies out of the fight without taking too much damage - just make sure you're aiming correctly!

Best weapons

  • Dragon's Bite
  • Dragon's Flight
  • Black Matter

Dragon's Bite is outright the best weapon for the Warrior, offering over 700 damage without enhancements. This is only obtained through the Dragonforged in exchange for Wyrmslife Crystals - so can be a bit tricky to get ahold of.

Alternatively, you could pick up Dragon's Flight from one of the late-game weapon merchants. I was able to find this from any of the merchants in New Game Plus, but I presume that it's available within some of the later-game areas.

If neither of those are available to you though, I'd recommend getting the Black Matter hammer. Not only does this look really cool, but you can get it fairly early on - providing that fighting a Cyclops isn't too scary to you! All that you need to do is head to the Ancient Battleground in western Vermund and fight the armoured Cyclops just before you enter the Worldsend Cave to head to the Sphinx. There should be a chest right behind the one-eyed foe, and inside you'll find the Black Matter hammer.

How good is the Warrior Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2?

I think that the Warrior is a fantastic Vocation, but it does just miss out on the top tier where the Thief and Magick Archer reside. It's incredibly strong and has the potential for super-high damage, but its speed (or lack thereof) is quite the weakness.

The best Warriors out there will be able to avoid this weakness completely, but you can find yourself susceptible to it and it does eat up a fair chunk of Stamina and leave you exposed even when you do hit.
