A good team comp is essential if you want to progress through AFK Journey's harder stages. I've got some recommendations for the best team comps to use in the game here, so if you're not sure who to use I've got you covered.

It's important to note that plenty of different heroes are viable, and you can use whoever you want for a lot of the game's content. But if it's a top-tier team you're after, these recommendations are ideal.

What's the best team comp in AFK Journey?

The best team right now consists of Cecia, Smokey & Meerky, Koko, Antandra and Thoran/Brutus.

There are many heroes that could be considered top-tier or close to it in this game, but this team stands above the rest, and it's very possible for free-to-play players to obtain it too (just make sure you add these heroes to your wishlist).

This team is used by a lot of players and seems to be performing better than the vast majority of teams in most game modes.

The comp has Mauler synergy with two Graveborn heroes thrown in. The Graveborn heroes are the best in their class - Cecia is the best marksman damage dealer while Thoran is the best tank. These two units can be used on a multitude of teams to great effect, and I'll run down why you should use them below.

What makes this team so good?

This team revolves around using two supports, two tanks and one main damage dealer. Essentially, you're buffing/healing Cecia as much as possible while making sure your tanks last a long time so they can soak up all the damage.

Thoran is the ultimate tank in AFK Journey as he can revive himself, giving him a lot more resilience than other tanks. You could swap out Antandra or Thoran for Brutus if you prefer, but having Antandra as a second tank is very helpful, and she also gives you three Maulers.

Smokey & Meerky is an essential unit for this comp, and most top-tier team comps, as he constantly heals and buffs allies in the vicinity of his aroma.

With Koko alongside him to provide even more buffs, your Cecia will stay alive and dish out massive damage while gaining way more energy than she usually would, keeping her ultimate ability topped up. You can also use Rowan as a second support if you prefer.

You might also be able to slot in Odie as a damage dealer - he's a Mauler with some huge damage output, especially against Dream Realm bosses.

This team has everything you need for the majority of the game's content - a huge damage dealer, a huge tank and lots of buffs and healing to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

What are the other best team comps in the game?

While this team is generally great, it's not the only team you can use to great effect. Some stages require a bit of a different strategy, and other heroes can provide things that this team can't.

For example, Brutus can be a great hero to slot into your team comp for stages/bosses that have instant-kill effects like the Croaker. He's immune to the first fatal blow, so he'll avoid the instant kill and keep fighting, making him better than someone like Antandra in that scenario.

For the Arena, you'll start to see different team comps competing at the top. This includes units like Eironn, Lyca and Hewynn for a Wilder team, or units like Silvina. Heroes like Thoran and Cecia are still very good in PVP too.

Overall, it's important to read your heroes' abilities and make sure you're using units that work well together. You can get through most stages with a solid team, even if you haven't got the very best heroes in the game. And don't forget to have fun - building unique teams and finding success is pretty satisfying!
