Call Of Duty Zombies Hints At Kino Der Toten Remake

As Activision kicks its Call of Duty assault into overdrive, the latest Black Ops Cold War Zombies leaks point to the return of a familiar locale and some very familiar foes. While we're used to tackling Polish and Vietnamese zombies in "Die Maschine" and "Firebase Z", it looks like we'll be back to those good ol' fashioned Nazi zombies with a remake of the beloved "Kino Der Toten" map. If that wasn't enough, how about a zombie Hitler boss for players to use as target practice? And here you were moaning Treyarch has been sleeping on its Cold War Zombies potential.

Heading back to Call of Duty: Black Ops, "Kino Der Toten" is a translation of "Theatre of the Dead" and has become one of the most iconic Zombies maps to grace the franchise. After being cut from the OG World at War as the planned fourth and final map, "Kino Der Toten" was a welcome addition to Black Ops and has since gone on to appear in remastered form for Black Ops III's "Zombies Chronicles" map pack. We've long-speculated it would return in Cold War, but now, it sounds like we're closer than ever.

Why do players think Zombies will remake Kino Der Toten?

In a lengthy video on his YouTube Channel, TheGamningRevolution shared some insider scoop on where Zombies will go next. The idea of Berlin being next on the Zombies world tour stems from intel that showed the city as a map on Grigori Weaver’s computer. There's an interesting red marker, that when put into Google Maps, leads to Berlin's TV Tower. It just so happens the landmark is right outside the "Kino Der Toten" theatre.

The latest update also introduced new intel that showed Dr Aleksandra Valentina in West Berlin following the massacre of Firebase Z. In a correspondence between Heinrich Meyer and Weaver, it was confirmed Valentina is planning to meet a mysterious contact in Berlin. The theories all loop back to the idea that Valentina is preparing to face-off with Zombies staple, Edward Richthofen. We already know someone is stalking Samantha Maxis, while her diaries reference an unhinged Richtofen. It neatly ties together with moving the Dark Aether storyline to Nazi Germany.

Will Zombies remake Kino Der Toten?

As TheGamingRevolution reminds us, the opportunity to explore the streets of Berlin would continue the "Brick in the Wall" mission from the main game. Just like "Firebase Z" reused assets from the campaign, breathing new life into "Kino Der Toten" would do the same. But what else can we expect? Sticking on a tinfoil hat, the CoD fan suggests zombie Hitler could be a new boss for the potential Zombies "Kino Der Toten" remake. TheGamingRevolution posed the idea of Hitler and other Nazis being sent into the Dark Aether, only to return in Cold War. He admitted that it would be a controversial move to make, but also pointed out there were rumours of a Hitler boss back in World at War

Finally, whatever Treyarch is working on might link "Kindo Der Toten" to Call of Duty: Warzone and the upcoming Call of Duty 2021Warzone Season 2 included Cold War's Vodanoy ship arriving in modern Verdansk in 2021. There's the potential that the ship could have Dark Aetherium crystals on board, while it's noted that the zombie crewmates look suspiciously similar to the "Kino Der Toten" zombies. If the stories intertwine, it would finally give a coherent Call of Duty universe that shares all its complicated lore under various games. It's all a big leap that would involve plenty of time travel and reaching, but in the end, we've come to expect the unexpected from Call of Duty Zombies
