Tickets please - we've got a brand new way to get around the Verdansk map in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6. After the introduction of the train in Season 5, we're going deeper underground in Season 6 with a very different way to commute. Unlike the London Underground, this is a dark and bullet-riddled underbelly of Verdansk that's sure to be a heavily contested POI for you sharpshooting Warzoners.

As Activision shows off Season 6's new features ahead of its September 29 release, the fast-travel subway system known as the Metro was the highlight of the first trailer. There was the return of Farah from the main campaign of Modern Warfare, who was chatting on the radio to Nikolai. As they navigated the labyrinth of tunnels, Farah and Nikolai emphasised the importance of bringing power back to the trains as they took out their opponents. Get ready for the quickest way to get around Verdansk.

As the trailer zoomed out, players got a glimpse of the entire play area, as well as confirmation that seven new subway stations have been added to Verdansk. Just like when Season 5 blew the roof off the stadium and turned it into a playable deathtrap, expect the subway stations to be just as crowded as a morning commute. Activision gave an in-depth analysis of the Metro in a follow-up post, which revealed some key things you'll need to know before trying to board.

Carriages will move either clockwise or counter-clockwise, and while there's a handy reminder in each station to show where trains are currently stopped, each station looks pretty much identical. You'll have to keep your wits about you to keep track of whether you're coming or going. An added perk is the fact trains won't start moving until the shooting has stopped. Trying to promote a violence-free journey, a train will remain stationary until guns are down. Finally, be warned that a trip on live tracks will end in a "shocking" demise and a quick trip to the Gulag.

Elsewhere, does this new feature also cue up the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the hyped return of Zombies? We've known for ages that Zombies will be making a welcome drop into Cold War's multiplayer, however, sources claim those flesh-hungry munchers will be coming to Warzone as a potential Halloween tie-in.

Eagle-eyed fans think they're spotted Zombies favourite Nikolai Belinski in the trailer, so does that mean we'll have TWO Nikolai's in Season 6? The subway reveal already showed off the cramped and spooky confines of the tunnels, so having the subway stations overrun with the undead isn't too much of a reach.

When it comes to the loose plot of Season 6, Activision explained, "Zakhaev’s plan takes a turn as two familiar faces uncover more about Mr. Z’s underground network and operations in Verdansk. Farah and Nikolai both re-enter the fight to help long-time ally Captain Price with the ongoing conflict following the breakdown of the Armistice".

Introducing subway trains so soon after Season 5's standard train is an interesting move, but either way, the fast-travel subway system is guaranteed to make sure you make that meeting (with a Grau 5.56) on time!
