Just as the second iteration of the franchised Call of Duty League prepares for it pre-season Kickoff Classic, fans appetites have never been more poised. The league is set for its curtain-raiser to lay the foundations of a successful year of elite CDL action boasting the best players in the world.

With the league's schedule set to be jam-packed, some fans have wondered whether the Warzone Weekends events will be returning too - a casual competition that saw the teams, casters, coaches, and influencers dive into Verdansk in a different format each week with $10k up for grabs each time. Designed to encourage a casual audience towards the Call of Duty League, Warzone Weekends didn't quite live up to expectations, although it was rather entertaining to watch.

However, the league has opted to raise the antics this year by including a larger competitive Warzone presence by integrating it into the CDL's plans.

In an interview with ScreenRant Johanna Faries, the Head of Leagues at Activision, has expressed that "There are [plans to bring Warzone to Call of Duty League], and we’re excited to announce those plans in the coming weeks and months.”

Faires added: "We've been closely monitoring the introduction and the wild popularity of Warzone since last spring. We did bring in Warzone related content with our pros last season, but we've taken the off-season to think bigger about what a more structured investment could look like. There are really exciting things to come as early as this season".

Some franchises have already begun to sign huge Warzone personalities in the mould of forming a full team. The London Royal Ravens recently introduced Vikram "Vikkstar123" Singh Barn as co-owner and signed former professional Liam "Jukeyz" James, whilst 100 Thieves have bolstered their ranks with Rhys ‘Rated’ Price and Thomas "Tommey" Trewren both of whom come from careers in the CDL too.

The details of the competitive Warzone scene have yet to be revealed with many problems to iron out prior, such as the ongoing fight against hackers.
