Speedrunning communities around video games are intense. The practice (usually) sees pro gamers sift through games at absurd speeds to see who is the absolute fastest.
It's a different method of enjoying your favourites and has seen a whole lot of game-breaks that make the most out of the gaps in between game fixes, but the practice makes way for perhaps the most fascinating playthroughs as a result.
It's cool as hell, but it's pretty hard to get into if you're not already absolutely cracked at the game you're attempting. But one streamer has proved that anyone can do it bu taking Zelda in their stride.
YouTuber becomes a speedrunner in 12 hours
Twitch streamer and YouTuber Simply has proved that anyone can step up to the plate and become the next speedrunning superstar, as he's managed to race through 2017's Breath of the Wild in an incredibly short timespan. Although already a prominent Mario speedrunner, Simply is taking Zelda in his stride.
In a new video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Simply has undertaken the challenge to become the next best speedrunner in Hyrule. More than this, he's given himself just 12 hours to do it.
Simply has documented the entire process in the 30-minute adventure. He'd only dipped into Breath of the Wild for just 20 minutes before attempting the challenge, proving even further that you can crack the test even if you're entirely new to a game. Even if you're going to die a lot along the way.
Simply gets some help from another speedrunner
As Simply reached some struggles along the way, thankfully, his clout came in handy. He got some help from Breath of the Wild speedrunning icon Limcube. To be fair, the skips required to progress in a speedrun of Breath of the Wild are pretty intense, so to have help from a seasoned pro was indispensable.
While we won't ruin what happened, we'd urge you to check the video out for yourself so you can experience its trials and tribulations. If there's one thing you should take from Simply's run, it's that if you set your mind to it, you could be next to top the leaderboards.
