When it comes to the PC release of games, the default for modders is to dive into the NSFW side of their consciousness to strip off the playable character or an NPCs clothes. Others go in a completely different direction to turn the lead into Shrek or add Thomas the Tank Engine to a game, and then there are those who make things that are actually useful.

Falling somewhere between the bizarre and the brilliant, one person has modded The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and given Geralt of Rivia a new weapon to add to his arsenal... emphasis on the arse bit of that. In the seven years since The Witcher 3 was released, we thought we'd seen every mod you'd ever want.

What Is The Farting Geralt Mod?

Over on Nexus Mods, "Farting Geralt" is pretty self-explanatory. The official description reads, "This mod allows Geralt to fart to release all those toxins built up by drinking Witcher potions." The Witcher 3 has an important (if frustrating) toxicity mechanic that tries to limit your consumption of potions so you don't become an OP potions master.

As you slurp down your favourite potion for that much-needed boost in battle, you'll see your toxicity meter fill until it reaches its max and starts draining Geralt of his health. When you're in the middle of a fight, it can be a pain in the ass. Thankfully, the farting Geralt mod turns that on its head and releases toxins - the natural way.

It's unclear exactly how this method of removing toxins works, and remember, using traditional methods like mediation sap you of the potion's intended buff. The mod is the work of thepowerlies, who has a number of equally handy mods for The Witcher 3. Alongside adding navigation commands, there's a must-download mod that makes items more durable.

What's Next For The Witcher?

While we know The Witcher 3  was one of the most successful video games of all time, there are hopes that The Witcher 4 can dethrone its bigger brother. The next game will be the first part of a new saga, so expect The Witcher to be sticking around a lot longer. Even though production has already started on The Witcher 4, we guess it's still a long way off.

There's no stopping the world of The Witcher, and while Cyberpunk 2077's renewed success has just seen CD Projekt Red's other big IP topple The Witcher 3's concurrent player record, it's still earned itself a place in the history boy. If you want more from The Witcher, there's also the popularity of the Henry Cavill-led Netflix series that just confirmed it will release in 2023. In the meantime, Geralt can let 'er rip in The Witcher 3.
