It feels like forever ago that a next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3 was revealed. The game is an icon of fantasy storytelling at this point, and more than deserves an upgrade that brings it up to date with amped-up visuals and framerates.

Ever since the reveal, we've been met with news of delay after delay. With its acclaimed legacy, The Witcher 3 NEEDS to be brought up to the modern gaming world, even if CD PROJEKT RED is taking its time making it happen. Thankfully, though, fans are on the job.

What Does The Witcher 3 Look Like In 8K?

Using a whole host of intensive mods, YouTube channel Digital Dreams has created a build for The Witcher 3 that firmly drags it into the current generation of consoles. This version of The Witcher 3 boasts the most impressive graphical upgrade we've seen in some time.

The video shared to their YouTube channel shows off a walkthrough of some of the game, gazing upon the gorgeous vistas that The Witcher 3 has to offer. It has all of the shadows, reflections, and lighting effects that make the idea of ray-tracing and 4K detail so alluring, especially for this fantasy title.

The game's new build contains over 100 mods that all work together to make this beautiful 8K setup work, and the list has been provided on Nexus Mods for anyone to try out. Though you're going to need one hell of a rig for it.

Installing The 8K Witcher Build Will Be A Slog

You're able to achieve this visual prowess yourself, but damn, if it isn't going to be hard work. We've already seen Elden Ring give PCs a battering with a performance boost, and you might remember when Digital Dreams threatened to melt your graphics card with its own 8K Skyrim upgrade.

To give The Witcher 3 its new-gen overhaul, you'll have to download and install all of the mods yourself and cross your fingers that your PC is going to be able to handle them all on top of the base game. Remembering there over 100 of them, you'd better get cracking. There's a lot of hoping and praying you're going to have to do to achieve such visual splendour, but it could be well within your reach. Geralt had better get downloading.
