The FPS market in gaming is filled with goliaths of the industry, including Call of Duty, Apex Legends, CS2, and of course, VALORANT.

As a result, grabbing a slice of the pie can be immensely difficult and many shooters struggle to build a dedicated community who jump on every single day.

Well, seemingly out of the blue, Embark Studios' The FINALS has done exactly that. With its combination of destruction, fast-paced movement, and incredibly satisfying gunplay, the FPS is surpassing the old guard in player counts and Twitch viewership at the moment.

Reaching an impressive 10 million competitors in just 15 days, even the devs are shocked at how much players are loving it.

The FINALS reaches 10 million players in 15 days

Taking to Twitter on December 22, Embark Studios announced that The FINALS had managed to hit "10 million contestants" in just 15 days.

This is an unbelievable achievement and puts the devs in a brilliant position for the future. The player base was quick to congratulate Embark as well, making it clear the success is "well deserved" and is a testament to how "unique" the title is.

"Thank you for this amazing game," said one user, with another claiming "I have been having a blast playing."

The FINALS devs were not expecting its meteoric rise

In a statement after reaching the milestone, the executive producer of The FINALS Rob Runesson revealed that the devs didn't expect this meteoric popularity right away.

"We're so humbled and excited by the response from the community so far - 10 million players this is something we never could have dreamed of."

Now though, all eyes are on the future and as the game doesn't have a roadmap just yet, it'll be interesting to see where Embark takes it next. The FINALS now has a foundation, but can it retain its player base long into the future? We'll just have to wait and see.
