The Best Competitive Classes to Use in Modern Warfare
As with any Call of Duty, competitive and play differ in many, small ways. While the core of the game is still there in either mode, the classes, maps, and style of play are more distinct in competitive. As such, the level of play is increased in competitive play, meaning you need to take every advantage at your disposal.
Though you need a slew of tools in your arsenal, most of it won’t matter unless you have a proper class. The set-up you pick dictates how you play a specific map. If you pick wrong, your chances of winning go down dramatically. So, what are some of the best classes to use in competitive modes?
Class set-ups for Modern Warfare competitive
Modern Warfare presents a difficult challenge, as there are so many attachments for every gun. However, there are certain attachments that suit different play styles and also different game modes.
If you’re looking to get into competitive or simply looking for helpful tips, you need to understand respawn and Search and Destroy. As aforementioned, this starts with picking your preferred class. Everyone has different play styles though, so we’ve picked set-ups for each type of player.
Class #1: Rushing M4A1

- Barrel: Stock M16 Stock Grenadier
- Optic: G.I. Mini Reflex (preference)
- Stock: No Stock
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip
- Rear Grip: Stippled Grip Tape

Perks:
- Double Time
- Pointman
- Battle Hardened
Equipment:
- Semtex Grenade
- Flash Grenade
Field Upgrade:
- Dead Silence
This class is suited towards Assault Rifle players who like to rush the objective. While this class can be used in either respawn or Search and Destroy, we feel it’s best suited for Search and Destroy.

Once again, this class can be used for any game mode. However, since we’re subbing out Dead Silence for a Trophy System, this is meant for respawn. If you want to turn into a Search and Destroy class, simply use Dead Silence.
The Accurate M4A1 class should be equipped by players who like to sit back pick players off from a distance. If you get into a close-quarters engagement, you’ll have some trouble.
Class #3: Run ‘N’ Gun MP5

A true rushing class, this MP5 set-up will demolish any enemy up close. There’s no single game mode this class is meant for, as it excels in all modes. However, try to stay away from long-range engagements as an accurate M4A1 player will pick you off easily.
Class #4: Stealthy MP5

Perks:
- E.O.D.
- Pointman
- Battle Hardened
Equipment:
- Frag Grenade
- Smoke Grenade
Field Upgrade:
- Dead Silence
This MP5 class is meant solely for Search and Destroy. If you’re a player who likes to sneak around the map in order to secure a flank or bombsite, this is the class for you. Using the Smoke Grenade will allow you to go undetected to an area and the suppressor will make it so you stay off the radar. A bomb carrier is the best choice to equip this class.
If you use any of the above classes, your chances of winning gunfights and the match increase. While ultimately the outcome lies with your shooting ability and decision-making, these classes help achieve those goals.
