The best Battle Rifles in Modern Warfare 3 provide a combination of raw firepower and mid-to-long-range threat, making them extremely formidable in Season 2's multiplayer.

While assault rifles and submachine guns tend to be more popular, I've managed to carry plenty of matches with a top-tier Battle Rifle setup and find that it's very underrated in the grand scheme of things. So, to ensure you're always one step ahead of your opponents, we've put together a list of the top five best Battle Rifle loadouts in MW3.

Best Modern Warfare 3 Battle Rifles ranked

5. SO-14

Best SO-14 loadout

  • Muzzle: Tempus GH50
  • Barrel: 18" T300 Barrel
  • Laser: CORIO LAZ-44 V3
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Bastion Angled Grip
  • Optic: Schlager 3.4x

The SO-14 may not be at the top of the rankings, but it carries over a hefty amount of power from Modern Warfare 2 to MW3. With the ability to dominate at long-range with select fire, and a full auto mode for when enemies get a little too close for comfort, the gun is incredibly versatile.

Perfect for maps like Wasteland, Highrise, and Derail, you can catch enemies off-guard from afar with ease. The gun has always been slept on, so if you're looking for a slightly off-meta option that you don't see every day, the SO-14 is a brilliant choice.

4. TAQ-V

Best TAQ-V loadout

  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT85
  • Stock: TV Cardinal
  • Magazine: 30 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: FSS Combat Grip
  • Laser: CORIO LAZ-44 V3

MW2's very own heavy-hitter, the TAQ-V, comes packed with a tremendous amount of damage and can wipe out foes in an instant. As you'd expect, this also results in a lot of kickback, but if you're a player who loves a weapon that packs a punch, it's a solid choice.

This is also a strong option if you're a CoD player who likes sticking to comfort. While the new MW3 weapons are exciting, sometimes it's better to opt for a weapon you've seen before, and likely used on multiple occasions.

3. Sidewinder

Best Sidewinder loadout

  • Muzzle: Tempus GH50
  • Stock: RB Regal Heavy Stock
  • Optic: MK. 3 Reflector
  • Rear Grip: RB Borealis Grip
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip

The Sidewinder comes in at number three and while it may not have the stats to take the crown, it's a truly unique weapon in the Battle Rifle category.

Unlike its counterparts, the Sidewinder is devastating at close range, making it a solid SMG replacement if you prefer to take on skirmishes in enclosed spaces.

It's also got impressive mobility, so it's ideal for a player who is always on the hunt for their next gunfight in MW3.

2. MTZ-762

  • Muzzle: VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor L
  • Optic: MK. 3 Reflector
  • Barrel: MTZ- ROWAN XL-356
  • Stock: EXF Close Quarters Assault Stock
  • Rear Grip: MTZ Factory Rear Grip

Another hard-hitting Battle Rifle that fires out 762 rounds, the MTZ-762 trades all-out firepower for a dose of recoil.

However, when used in the semi-auto mode, you can really get a handle on the kickback and see why this gun is such a powerhouse. The loadout above is all about maximising stability, keeping you off the radar, and turning the MTZ-762 into a mid to long-range threat.

1. BAS-B

Best BAS-B loadout

  • Muzzle: Bruen Harmonic Suppressor L
  • Barrel: Short 8" Bruen SZ-45 Barrel
  • Magazine: 45 Round Mag
  • Underbarell: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Optic: MK. 3 Reflector

By far the best Battle Rifle in MW3, and potentially one of the best weapons in the game, the BAS-B takes the crown on our list. The gun sits well above the rest thanks to its brilliant balance of damage and stability, making it extraordinarily consistent.

The Bruen Harmonic Suppressor L means that you'll stay undetected which is fantastic when fighting over range, as your enemies will literally not know what's hit them. Furthermore, the MK. 3 Reflector is still the best optic in the game and gives you the flexibility to be precise at medium and short ranges.

Contending the MCW and Holger 556 at the top of the meta, this is a devastatingly strong Battle Rifle that needs to be on your loadout list. It may even be the weapon to finally secure you the prestigious nuke.

It remains the strongest even with a handful of nerfs in Season 2, which increased the sprint to fire time by 9%, increased the ADS time by 4%, and dramatically increased the hipfire spread by 26%.

These might seem like they'd take a toll on the weapon, but thankfully it's still fantastic to use and can truly compete at the top with many of the other best guns in the game.

Furthermore, it has a pick rate of 1.39% according to WZRanked, which is the highest of all Battle Rifles, and the 15th highest overall in the game. This proves that the BAS-B is a fantastic choice to pick up, and you'll probably not be alone when running it on any given map.
