Super Mario has entered the arena. Nintendo has officially released its Super Mario Bros. 35 Battle Royale mode on Switch.

Available to download on the Switch eShop, players can now control their favourite characters from the Nintendo universe and battle it out versus up to 34 other players. The game will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers as it involves you playing online. It will amass 400MB of storage space.

The gameplay differs from other battle royale games, as 35 Marios will play 2D levels of Super Mario Bros. against other players. You never directly attack opponents, but through your progression, you can make other players' levels extremely hard, until there is just one Mario standing. Similar to how Tetris 99 plays, the objective is to survive for the longest whilst making opponents courses severely difficult.

By ducking and diving through drainpipes, each Mario has the ability to defeat the deadly foes that have plagued the Mario universe for decades. By squishing Goombas, and slinging Koopa Troopa shells, these enemies will be sent to ' screens until they eventually become too much to handle and one Mario is left.

Nintendo is also hosting a Super Mario Bros. 35 'Special Battle' event, which will span from October 1 - 5, where players can take to Worlds 1 and 2, with a total of eight courses.

The game will only be available to March 31, 2021, so make sure to take full advantage and grab those stars before it is too late. Coincidentally, this is also the same day that Super Mario 3D All-Stars subscriptions will end, although Nintendo's Jump Rope Challenge had a similar deadline and has been extended indefinitely.

May the odds be ever in your favour, and let the best Mario win.
