Saintt Claims Subliners Will Win Champs After Clayster Announces Return
Following a brief spell on the sidelines, James "Clayster" Eubanks has returned to the New York Subliners starting roster, in a bid to get his hands on a fourth World Championships ring and become the first player in Call of Duty history to achieve the milestone.
Despite being a reigning champion, with success at Dallas Empire last season, Clayster was in doubt to appear on the world stage this year, after announcing a mental health break prior to the last Major of the season.
However, champs is Clayster's playground, and the three-time winner is set to play again.
With the news breaking out, questions arose about the Subliners' preparation for the world championships with just two weeks of practice before the CDL's climax.
Now, Minnesota Rokkr's head coach Brain "Saintt" Baroska has claimed that NYSL is "winning champs" based on their scrims.
Saintt Backs Subliners For Champs
Despite Minnesota's recent success as the "Rokkr Ressurection", Saintt has now said: "I can confidently say NYSL is winning champs", before adding "every"one else is playing for second."
Jokingly, Saintt added that Clayster actually "sucks" in scrims, but the young french phenomenon Paco "HyDra" Rusiewiez is benefiting from having his leader back. Saintt said: "He sucks, but CDL should start engraving 'HyDra' onto the MVP trophy."
Hydra's development has been the key to much of New York's success this season, especially under the wing of Clay. During Stage 3 and 4, the young gunner had a 1.14 and 1.16 k/d ratio respectively, in which New York centralised around to grab a top-two and top-four finish. Following Clay's break, Hydra also dipped to a flat average of 1.0, showcasing the importance of uniting the duo.
Popular CDL streamer, and former Subliners player, Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto, argued that New York also scrimmed well with Clayster's step-in Conor "Diamondcon" Johst, which didn't correlate to their Stage 5 LAN performances.
Saintt's Minnesota Rokkr team also come in as underdogs for the world championships, after winning in Stage 5. Atlanta FaZe continue to be the favourites for the event after being so dominant all year around, despite a slight drop-off in the penultimate event.
The World Championships kick off on August 19, where Clayster will start in the upper bracket versus his former organisation OpTic Chicago.
