In a bid to continue their devotion to creating a more diverse community in North American League of Legends esports, the LCS has announced a "Game Changers" initiative that will look to bridge the gap between high-ELO casual females and the esports scene.

The LCS Game Changers program will be rolled out to support ten of the most skilled female players in the region, who want to become professional players within LoL. The ten women will be hand-picked from a range of applicants, where they will be pitted into two teams and live two weeks in the shoes of a professional team. Scouts, talent, and LCS coaches will all be in attendance to help transcend these selected players to become professionals and find spots on LCS teams.

Women and girls over the age of 13 will be able to apply for the program, as long as they live in the United States or Canada, and are fully available for the two-week remote course from September 27 to October 8.

Riot Games has revealed that the program will offer lessons on the fundamentals of becoming a pro, skill practices by scrimming against internal and external teams, and work with coaches and analysts to gain insight on how they can improve. The coaching will focus heavily on positional awareness with VOD reviews and expert panels, as players in each role will look to hone their skillset towards pro play.

At the end of the two weeks, the two teams of five will put on a showcase in front of a range of connections that can spiral their careers.

Alongside the one-to-one and team coaching, the women will also learn from guest speakers, with talks mainly surrounding the mental aspects of becoming a League of Legends pro. Topics of discussion will be along the lines of "Life as a Pro" and "Mental Resilience", which will undoubtedly be tailored towards being a woman in the esports scene as well as the usual hurdles.

Riot said, "We understand the importance of safety in the community, especially for underrepresented groups. This program's primary goal is to level up an underserved group of League of Legends players, and as such we will be respecting our participant's privacy by not broadcasting this event live.

"We understand this process can be daunting to do alone, and we’re excited to host this event that will act both as a training and scouting ground to provide women with more paths into the esports scene."

The game developers also announced a Game Changers series over in VALORANT in previous months, which could be the next step for the campaign as it develops.
