With the addition of the brand-new CAR SMG to Apex Legends, the loot pool is more elaborate than ever before, and those weapons that are growing could soon be dredged out of the depths with a rubber dingy.

Since Apex Legends was unearthed, a range of guns has been added to the title, slotting into the Sniper, Light, Heavy, and Shotgun ammo types, with every weapon having been buffed and nerfed to allow the meta to stay fresh. Recently, the beloved G2 Scout found its way into the care packages after becoming too dominant, whilst the Triple Take returned to the hands of everyone looking to find a new long-range weapon.

However, some more consistent instant discards have been populating the floors of Worlds Edge and Kings Canyon for months, such as the whimsical P2020 pistol and the pea-shooter 30-30 Repeater. Now, Respawn Entertainment could be set to "vault" certain weapons, as more guns are introduced, and the aforementioned floor loot could be the first to go.

What Has Respawn Said About Removing The P2020 And 3030 Repeater?

After one Apex Legends player lashed out at a Respawn Entertainment employee on Twitter, Associate Live Balance Designer John "JayBiebs" Larson said that the Bocek Bow is here to stay, although some older guns may have to make way for those newer weapons.

Larson specifically hinted towards the P2020 being removed, adding that they even considered making the nerf-like weapon a starting pistol for every player dropping from the ship, although he was against the idea.

What Else Did JayBiebs Say?

When questioned about having the P2020 as a starter, Larson said, "This was a hot topic when we were implementing starter kits. I was against it because of how quickly a coordinated team could wipe a solo on a contested drop. It’s already a common strat in high-level ranked. The initial gun scramble buys some time for everyone to react."

As for the 30-30, the relatively new weapon has recently been on the receiving end of a buff after being ridiculed since release and has been a slightly more popular pick on Storm Point following the removal of the G2 Scout. Despite still having a low rate of fire to be most effective, the Repeater may have a saving grace, before the hands of those weird monster-like creatures come in and stamp it out for good.
