Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition Could Be On The Way
It sounds like there's more to come from Raccoon City, with rumours of a Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition continuing to do the rounds. While the Resident Evil name is stronger than ever, Capcom seems to be obsessed with updating 2020's Resident Evil 3 remaster.
Back in 1999, Resident Evil 3 continued the story of Jill Valentine and ran concurrently with 1998's Resident Evil 2. Held as the end of the road for the early days of the franchise, it was followed by a complete revamp in 2005 with Resident Evil 4 being the next true entry. Yes, we know there were the likes of Code: Veronica and Zero.
What Is The Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition?
It's no secret that some of us were underwhelmed by the release of Resident Evil 3 in 2020. While Capcom had great success with 2019's remaster of RE2, RE3 was criticised for its length and features that weren't ported over from the original release.
A post on Reddit confirms that Resident Evil 3 is still being updated. Considering it was first released in April last year, it's a confusing state of affairs. The community is divided on what this means, with the idea of the Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition being a popular one.
Others think the updates could be adding Easter eggs into Resident Evil 3, which further throws fuel on the fire that a new-gen Resident Evil 4 is on the way. Someone said it could just be adding the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer to the start of Nemesis, however, another rightly noted, "They have been updating the game regularly for months now. I doubt months of works are just for putting a trailer in the main menu."
Is The Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition Real?
Someone pointed out a Sony State of Play is a matter of days away. The recent PS5 trailer teased a possible RE4 remake, and with Village launching its Maiden demo exclusively on PlayStation, the franchise goes hand in hand with the PlayStation these days. The mere concept of the Grave Digger and Crows returning is enough to have us throwing our money at Capcom.
You need to remember that the idea of the Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition was born from a sketchy 4chan post. At the time of RE3's release, there were critiques that there was no major DLC push to keep us coming back. Capcom was presumably busy powering ahead with Resident Evil Village, but given that RE3 has already been left in the dust, is there really any need to return?
