It's another case of life imitating art, as Xbox is reportedly touting Elon Musk to make a real-life Halo warthog. Who wouldn't want to see their creation brought to life, which is sure to be most video game creators' dream? Well, maybe not the Death Stranding's horrifying Bridge Baby. As 343 Industries charts a new era with the delayed Halo Infinite, there are calls for Mr Musk to actually recreate the iconic Warthog to. Given the continuous delays, it's entirely plausible he could get the Warthog rolling off the conveyor belt by the time the next-gen game drops.

With Musk being the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, he's got a history of pushing technology into the future. Away from his latest endeavour to use Neuralink to get two monkies to play Pong via a brain chip, could he really turn his hand to creating another way to travel? Musk has had troubles with the Tesla Model S, while you might remember the Cyberpunk-inspired Cybertruck wasn't exactly met with a warm reception. It could be best to leave designing video game vehicles to the experts.

Could Elon Musk make a real-life Halo Warthog?

Even though Musk turn the Warthog into an actual driveable vehicle might sound like it's pulled from the battle between Master Chief and the Covenant, it's an idea that's picking up steam on social media. It was first raised at the end of January when Musk shared his love of Halo. When asked what he likes to play, Musk replied: "Only Halo" - sorry Cyberpunk. Xbox Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg suggested the pair join forces and said a collaboration needs to happen at "some point". Greenberg added that it would be a "dream collab for me and many fans I know". He used the hashtags #Cybertruck and #Warthog, just to make his intentions clear.

The Warthog has become Master Chief's de facto mode of transport and is up there with Back to the Future's DeLorean in terms of legendary vehicles. Discussing the Warthog's importance, designer Jaime Griesemer previously said (via GamesRadar), "I think the Warthog is the real reason Halo became an action game". He explained, "It was so cool to watch a squad of jeeps driving across the terrain [that] we wanted to drive them ourselves". In case you didn't realise how important the Warthog was, Griesemer concluded, "In some ways, Halo is the story of the Warthog and the universe we built to drive it around in".

Of course, hopes that Elon Musk could build a real-life Halo Warthog comes after someone actually beat him to it. Years ago, someone shared their creation on Reddit, which combined components of a Chevy truck with 3D-printed accessories. Despite having little mechanical experience, it had working lights and they were applying for it to be road legal. You can only imagine what Musk could do with the power of Tesla behind an official Warthog project. The Cybertruck isn't too far off the look of the Warthog, so it wouldn't even be that hard to create.

With a live-action Halo series also on the cards, Musk could really cash in on the franchise's hype and make the ultimate video game companion. Microsoft has previously shown off Warthog creations to promote the various Halo games, but it's about time someone made one we can actually take home to put in the garage. 343 Industries has been on the marketing assault with Halo Infinite and shown off a variety of vehicles and skins. When the game eventually lands, we're sure the Warthog will be front and centre as Master Chief's four-wheeled companion.
