The first look at the PlayStation 5 ‘Slim’ may have been leaked online for the first time as a picture has been shared on Twitter.

While there has been a lot of talk about PlayStation refreshing their latest console with Pro and Slim versions for a while now, PlayStation has yet to make an official announcement.

The PlayStation 5 Slim may have been leaked

Andrew Marmo tweeted a picture showing a glimpse of the slim console.

He said: “Here's the first look at the PlayStation 5 (CFI-2016) "Slim".” He also linked to the source thread on A9VG.com.

Many commenters under his tweet seem to be upset with the design, saying it is "uglier than the current PS5", "hideous" and that they are simply "not a fan."

Marmo is not the only person leaking the slim console, with Twitter user BwE claiming to have video of it.

They wrote: "The 2000 series PS5 "Slim" looks a little bit shit.

"I would say its about 5cm or so shorter, not much thinner. Weird curve in the middle with smaller vents. The BD drive is less curved so it looks weird. Has two ugly black slits on each side of the case. Dual USB-C on the front. Stupid embossed symbols on the rear. Boring ASF.

"If its real and not a prototype, I will be very disappointed when its released. Not sure how they'll justify it beyond it being smaller? Its definitely not slim."

Do we have any details on when the PlayStation 5 Slim coming?

While PlayStation has not made an official announcement at this stage, it could be likely that they will release the Slim version of the console before the end of the year.

As reported by Kotaku, during the FTC trial for the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard, court documents seemingly announced that a Slim PlayStation 5 console would be coming by the end of the year.

In a section of the document titled “The Console Market Must Include Nintendo”, Microsoft wrote “PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point.”

This is not unlikely as the console was released in November 2020, almost three years ago. This lines up with past PlayStation console releases where a slim or pro version is made available three years after the initial launch date.

If the accidental Microsoft announcement and leaks are correct, we may be finding out more about the PlayStation Slim very soon.
