Hardware is pretty hard to make sense of in the gaming world - after all, you’re not buying headsets, furniture and replacement parts as frequently as you’re buying games. Gauging where to look for upgrades is tough too, as it’s such a broad world it’s almost impossible to know where to begin, but some companies make it a little easier than others.

SteelSeries, by virtue of being around for so long, has made its name as one of these companies - and now their new release is looking to add some new features to the table.

SteelSeries has unveiled the latest addition to its “affordable luxury” category on its site, the Arctis Nova 5 headset, which comes bundled with its own companion app.

The headset offers players a 60+ hour battery life and high-quality Bluetooth connections, but it’s also got another ace up its sleeve - its accompanying app comes with over 100 differed sound profiles developed by audio engineers, esports pros and more, meaning that you’ll have access to sound presets that help you get the most out of the likes of Fortnite, Apex Legends, Minecraft and more.

This works nicely with Xbox and PlayStation, but the USB-C dongle that the headset comes with can be used with the Switch, PC, Meta Quest, and some mobile devices too.

It’s a compelling device that packs a serious punch, and it could be about to set a new bar for audio capabilities in-game.

We'll have a hands-on review in the coming days.
