Given that we've already spent months reliving our best Call of Duty youths by 360'ing off Afghan's peak with the Intervention in hand - and hitting nothing - there's been a hole in the nostalgic heart.

The Barret .50cal was right up there with the Intervention when Modern Warfare 2 was prime, but the sniper rifle was ignored when Infinity Ward decided to roll back the years.

Now, Sledgehammer Games has answered the call and made a JAK upgrade to honour the beloved gun specifically.

RPK Aftermarket Part bizarrely changes the LMG into a beloved sniper

The Aftermarket Part system has brought us a range of weird and wonderful weapons throughout Modern Warafre 3's tenure, often landing as incredibly overpowered upgrades before getting nerfed down the line.

The latest upgrade comes in the form of the JAK Cataclysm for the RPK LMG (MW2), which takes this devastating long-range gun and loads it up with a drum mag filled with sniper ammo.

The kit slows down the typically fast-firing weapon to a semi-auto gun, and as you can expect, it gets weird. But, as Call of Duty itself quoted, "this kit is your enemy's nightmare".

MW3's secret Barrett .50cal is incredible

Already, the secret throwback sniper has been found to be absolutely incredible. FaZe Clan content creator and renowned sniper expert Luke "Scope" Sharretts posted a clip of him using the kit and collecting eight kills in nine seconds with the gun, lighting up the entire kill feed with the RPK's silhouette and the headshot symbol.

The weapon could also pose quite a threat on Warzone too, especially if you can hit those headshots. Sniping has often been criticised over the last year, either being too powerful or too mediocre, but this JAK Cataclysm kit has swung the pendulum over to the side of OP for snipers once more.
