For as long as Call of Duty has been alive and kicking, it has always been, first and foremost, a 6v6 game.

Nearly 20 multiplayer titles have come and gone, introducing different game modes, weapons, eras, timelines, characters, and maps, but the constant variable throughout all of these is that Call of Duty is a 6v6 shooter.

But fans think it's time for a change. Redditors are now banding together to have CoD move away from this archaic mindset and go with 8v8 instead.

Different lobby sizes have always been popular in CoD. Ever since competitive play was pushed to 4v4, fans have loved it dearly (even voting out 5v5 when that came into play for two years). Ever since large-scale moshpits and Ground War were added, 10v10 and 12v12 have become a sniper's haven.

But players are now sick and tired of having 6v6 lobbies after the last few years of playing higher-stakes CoD, and Redditors have taken to a post to demand "at least 8v8".

In a post titled "6v6 sucks now. Needs to be at least 8v8," one user said, "6v6 is so mind-numbingly boring. People just don't play these maps the same way they did back in the OG MW2, and matches often feel way slower because of it."

CoD players are calling for a Vanguard pacing feature again

Despite its flaws, Vanguard changed this up, having different pacing settings for games, with lobby sizes edging as far as 16v16 on the massive maps, making gunfights much more frequent.

"I know it's popular to p**s on Vanguard, but if you have to give that game something, at least you could pick your lobby sizes," the Redditor added.

Fans agree too.

One added, "I wouldn't mind the match pacing from Vanguard. 6v6, 8v8, 10v10, 14v14 or whatever it was."

A third fan also agreed, adding, "I miss combat pacing from Vanguard."

Given the tiny maps deployed in MW3, an increased lobby size does seem unlikely, but maybe a playlist for middle-to-large maps set to 10v10 by default might be more appropriate, given players seem to enjoy the like-minded LTMs.
