Every Call of Duty has a fan-favourite weapon that seems to capture the community's hearts and be remembered fondly.
Whether it's MW2 (2009)'s ACR or Intervention, World at War's MP40, or the M16A4 from CoD4, they all stood out from the crowd in their game's arsenal of weapons.
For MW2019, a few options could take the crown as the most popular, but for the MW3 competitors, there's one gun that needs to make a return before any of the others.
Remembered for dominating Verdansk and being incredibly satisfying to use, this gun was capable of beaming down enemies with ease and completely took over the meta - we're obviously talking about the Grau 5.56.
MW3 players want Grau 5.56 Assault Rifle back
Taking to Twitter on January 14, popular Call of Duty account ModernWarzone posted a picture of the Grau 5.56 and said "Not a day goes by where I don't think about you."
This sparked a massive amount of attention from the community who all agreed the Grau 5.56 needs another chance to shine. A comeback for this weapon in MW3 would be huge, with countless fans revealing it's their "favourite gun of all time in COD."
"The feel of the Grau and Kilo was unmatched," said one user, with another arguing, "The iron sight was so clean too, It was like a pinpoint."
Leaks have indicated that throwback seasons to iconic CoD games could be coming in MW3's lifecycle, and what better way to honour MW2019 than to bring back the Grau 5.56?
What made the Grau 5.56 so popular in Call of Duty?
The biggest strength of the Grau 5.56 in MW2019 and the OG Warzone was its unbelievably stable recoil pattern. This gun could truly laser beam enemies with ease and made landing shots extremely simple - paired with the AR's strong TTK and you had a weapon that could carry any match.
If that wasn't enough, the Grau had one of the cleanest iron sights in CoD history, freeing up another attachment in every loadout. Sledgehammer should consider bringing back this amazing AR, as it would definitely ignite the excitement of a lot of Call of Duty fans.
