It's true that Modern Warfare 3 cosmetics regularly stir up a discussion within the community, with some players loving the wacky designs and others complaining that the Mil-Sim aesthetic shouldn't have been left behind.
Well, a new blueprint has arrived in CoD and is once again leading to a divide amongst competitors, as this time, the cosmetic is making a joke out of the long-standing "Update Requires Restart" pop-up.
This message has been a point of frustration for years, and now, instead of fixing the issue, Activision has decided to make a bundle out of it.
As you would expect, the blueprint is receiving both backlash and praise, with some calling it "dope" and others slamming the "gimmicky" skin as greedy.
MW3 fans celebrate "dope" Update Requires Restart blueprint
As showcased by the popular Call of Duty account CharlieINTEL, there's a new Rival-9 blueprint that features a mini screen on the side of it. When inspecting the gun, the display shows a version of Advanced Warfare booting up, before being interrupted by the infamous "Update Requires Restart" pop-up.
This may cause the Operator to be a little upset, but some players absolutely love the "dope" blueprint and have made it clear they're going to buy it as soon as possible.
"Funny they embraced it," said one user who appreciated the joke, with another claiming, "This is actually cool." In total, the entire bundle costs 2,400 CoD points, and considering the blueprint has been made for the meta Rival-9, it's likely going to be very popular.
Other CoD fans slam Activision for monetising "problem" with MW3
Not everyone likes the joke, though, with some players frustrated that the devs are busy making skins about the issue instead of actually fixing the "Update Requires Restart" pop-up.
"Game is so bad they make a joke about it and charge money for it, amazing," said one user, with another arguing, "This is how you know they don't care about issues that are YEARS old, but hey let's fill up the shop with microtransaction instead of fixing actual problems in the games."
The novelty of this "gimmicky" skin will no doubt be enough to make it extremely popular, but it's left a bad taste in the mouth of some who are growing tired of the devs ignoring long-standing problems.
With the devs fully embracing "Update Requires Restart," it's unlikely the pop-up is going away anytime soon.
