Any Marvel show that could rope Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke into its ranks had to be good from the off, but we were pretty unprepared for the surprises that Moon Knight had in store for us.

Stephen Grant and Marc Spector's adventures across Egypt with the powers of Khonshu in tow were a good time, and leaving us on a cliffhanger means we all have questions about when exactly we could see the mercs return... if at all. So, what's going on with Moon Knight season 2? Here's everything we know about the cast, story, and more.

What do we know about Moon Knight Season 2?

Although we don't have any news concerning an actual Moon Knight season 2 release date, there's actually already been a teaser that the show could be filming a second season.

Director Mohamed Diab and Oscar Isaac were spotted in a TikTok that went viral when it came out. When asked if there would be a Moon Knight season 2, the camera flipped to an Egyptian background, where Oscar Isaac asked, "Why else would we be in Cairo?" Curious.

If this is a second season Isaac and Diab are teasing, then we could be getting an announcement by the end of the year, and perhaps a late 2023 release. Of course, knowing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this tease could truly be anything.

Naturally, it'll arrive on Disney Plus.

According to this TikTok tease, the only person confirmed to be jumping into the Moon Knight season 2 cast (if it's happening) is Oscar Isaac.

Still, we wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see the return of Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow. It might be hard to talk Hawke around again, and he did kind of get shot in the head at the end of the first series by one Jake Lockley, so it would be a hard one to pull off.

As for others, we'd expect the return of May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly given her heroic end and potential emergence as the Scarlet Scarab. Calamawy has the honour of being the MCU's first Egyptian hero, and explaining where she'd like to go next, she told Inverse she'd love to team up with Doctor Strange, Blade, Agatha Harkness, or Nebula. Well, it's quite the list.

Finally, we imagine the Khonshu combo of Karim El Hakim and F. Murray Abraham will be back in action, as well a hopeful return for Antonia Salib's Taweret. Everyone needs more from that happy hippo.

Moon Knight Season 2 Story

The second series of Moon Knight is likely to feature Marc Spector and Stephen Grant once again, presumably in a more harmonious state than the chaos we saw with them fighting over the same body in the first season.

Of course, the first season ended with the cliffhanger that there is a third alter in the mix in the shape of the ruthless Jake Lockley. After Jake's seemingly villainous arrival, Isaac could be pulling triple duty as the heroes and villains of Moon Knight season 2.

Although there are 47 years of Moon Knight comics to pull from, Lockley is likely to lead our frontmen down a further rabbit hole of adventures. Also, with the recent arrival of Werewolf by Night on Disney+ - and MK debuting in a Werewolf by Night comic - we're guessing these two could meet at some point.

Beyond that, it's all a mystery on where the Moon Knight season 2 story takes us. The MCU is definitely leaning into a darker side of the source material with the likes of the upcoming Blade movie, but for Moon Knight Season 2, we're just going to have to wait and see what Marvel has planned for Marc and Stephen.
