It's nearly time to fire up the TemPad, as the God of Mischief prepares to return for Loki Season 2. Tom Hiddleston is once again proving it ain't easy being green, with the complicated antihero being put through the wringer for another timey-wimey adventure.

First appearing in 2011's Thor (having auditioned to play the main guy himself), Hiddleston has become synonymous with Loki. Having evolved into a tragic hero in Avengers: Infinity War, Loki got his time to shine in his own Disney+ series. It defied expectations, and now he's back... with a McDonald's collaboration.

Loki Season 2 is getting its McDonald's meal

There was plenty to unpack in the first Loki Season 2 trailer, with one major talking point being the return of Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie. By the looks of it, Sylvie has set up shop as a McDonald's worker in the '70s. It's an obscure Easter egg, but one McDonald's is really leaning into.

Proving it's not just Grimace that can shake it, AdAge reports how McDonald's is releasing a special "As Featured In" campaign. Although it honours shows and movies like Seinfeld, Richie Rich, and Space Jam, the timing couldn't be better for Loki Season 2's October 6 release.

Running in selected venues from August 14 to August 30, the "As Featured In Meal" includes a choice of 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, or a Big Mac. All come with medium fries, a medium soft drink, and the recently announced Loki Sweet 'N Sour Sauce.

The campaign comes just after the Golden Arches announced it was rebranding its famous sauce in honour of Loki. If you scan the lid of the sauce pot, you'll get a peek at Loki Season 2 via a themed augmented reality experience on Snapchat. New content will debut weekly.

What's going on in Loki Season 2?

Amidst accusations that the MCU has dropped off in recent times (we're looking at you, Secret Invasion), Loki Season 2 looks like it's firing on all cylinders. Following the cataclysmic events of the Loki Season finale, the big bad of Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) looms over the TVA.

Our Loki is being ripped through time, Sylvie looks like she's trying to live a normal life, and Ke Huy Quan's OB is a newcomer trying to help the green meanie. There's a trip to the 1893 World's Fair, where Loki and Mobius (Owen Wilson) are sure to cross paths with Victor Timely - a presumably villainous Kang variant.

We also have Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer back, potentially being set up as Kang's love interest. Although it looks like the TVA manages to patch the sprawling Sacred Timeline, it's clear time is running out for everyone as we head toward the next big Avengers ensembles of Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
