Even though Call of Duty has been under fire for plenty of issues over the years, it's especially potent in an era where changes to each new game are so incremental that even the slightest change can make all the difference.
Modern Warfare 3 has become a competitive haven for Call of Duty players, and each slight tweak has dramatic ramifications when it comes to weapon metas, favourite maps, and more. Now, the shooter series' hitboxes have been brought into question after one player has suffered an absurd death.
Call of Duty player gets shot in the gun and dies
One player has made waves in the Call of Duty community. Reddit user AnonymousStranger14 shared a clip of one of their deaths that feels perhaps more unfair than most in the franchise.
The OP showcased their wife's gameplay to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, which shows her sneaking around a corner in a game on Highrise. As she gradually peeks around the corner, she erupts into a red mist and flies off of the top of the building.
It's revealed by the killcam that the player who killed her was aiming purely at her gun, and somehow, shooting the barrel of the weapon killed the player instantly.
Although it's a funny clip, it raises some serious questions about how the hitboxes of the game work, and how many more unfair deaths have been suffered as a result of the game being programmed to allow a death like this.
Players react to absurd gun death in Modern Warfare 3
Players have taken to the comments to express just how ridiculous the death is and to express that this means potentially catastrophic things for competitive play.
"I could of [sic] sworn this was a thing already because I used to do this to people who would be in windows in the older CoDs," says one user. "Doesn’t surprise me, since MWII these games have been plagued with bugs," added another.
"IDK how these two games have more bugs than their predecessor MW2019? S**t is ridiculous." It's a brutal problem that has clearly plagued CoD for too long, and players have had enough. Maybe we should conclude by reminding you that getting shot in the gun typically doesn't actually kill people.
