Every Call of Duty player has their own favourite mode in the franchise, some of which don't even appear in the latest line of titles. Whether it's the slow-paced and tactical Search and Destroy, the objective-based Domination, or the outright chaos of Free-for-All, there's something for everyone in multiplayer.

That's no different in Modern Warfare 3, with Sledgehammer providing a wide range of modes at launch. However, one fan-favourite option was notably missing.

Well, the devs didn't take long to rectify this mistake and have dropped the news that Gun Game is arriving imminently.

Gun Game is coming to Modern Warfare 3 on November 22

Taking to Twitter on November 21, Sledgehammer Games revealed that Gun Game is coming to Modern Warfare 3.

Instead of waiting until Season 01, the devs dropped the bombshell that the fan-favourite mode would actually be arriving on November 22.

This has taken fans completely by surprise, as typically, big additions like this are saved for the major patches.

For those who are unaware, Gun Game is an OG mode in Call of Duty where players upgrade and change their guns by killing an opponent. Starting with a pistol, you make your way through the arsenal, and anyone killed by a melee attack is demoted to the previous weapon.

MW3 fans praise devs for 'killing it' so far with the updates

Compared to Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer continues to impress and this is being reflected by the feedback from the community. The news about Gun Game has been a massive surprise to fans and a reason to celebrate.

This is certainly another win for the devs and they'll be looking to keep this up throughout MW3's life cycle. "You guys are killing it thank you," said one user, with another claiming, "I'm so happy with this launch, I'm once again addicted to COD, best release In YEARS."

Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer is certainly on the right track, but the question is, will the first major update deliver enough content to satisfy the community?
