Apex Legends Season 17 introduced a huge amount of changes to the Ranked mode in the hopes of improving the overall competitive experience. Unfortunately, these alterations have (so far) been met with widespread criticism, especially from pros.

Now, it seems players can climb the leaderboard and reach the upper echelons of Ranked by just AFKing and avoiding gunfights. Talking on stream, ImperialHal revealed how to execute this 'secret strategy' that allows you to move up the ladder without shooting a single bullet.

ImperialHal how to easily get Predator in Apex Legends

As Respawn adjusted the entry costs and how points are awarded, it's now possible to deal no damage in a match and still climb in Ranked.

Talking about the 'secret strategy' on stream, ImperialHal explained that all you have to do is sit in the gas and use med kits to survive. The most efficient way to do this is by travelling to all the crafters, collecting materials and then just keep creating med kits.

While you're surviving in the gas, the majority of the lobby will die out, and when you eventually run out of resources, you'll still be awarded enough points to climb.

NRG pro Sweetdreams reaches Predator dealing no damage

If you're sceptical about how effective this strategy is, NRG pro Sweet proved it's possible by reaching Predator in Season 17 while securing no kills and dealing no damage.

Calling on Respawn to "increase the Entry Fee for higher levels or we're sitting in trees," it's clear Sweet believes he's proven the current Ranked system is broken.

It's hard to know how long this passive Ranked strategy will be available in-game. With players avoiding gunfights and actively sitting in the gas, it's guaranteed to affect the pacing of matches and may cause Respawn to release a hotfix.
