John Wick: Chapter 4 has finally arrived, and just as we expected, it is an absolute riot. It'd be fair to be pessimistic given the film's admittedly excessive runtime, but Chad Stahelski's vehicle for bloodlust has proven its worth tenfold.

The latest outing for Baba Yaga has come out on top at the box office for fans everywhere. Chapter 4 is among the best action titles we've had in the last few years, with a great deal of that coming from Keanu Reeves' performance as the titular killer.

Reeves has performed Wick's fight choreography with incredible finesse, but as the last few films proved, Wick isn't one to chat. And now, it turns out that Keanu Reeves' fee was earned with very few words.

Keanu Reeves doesn't speak much in John Wick: Chapter 4

Though Wick doesn't exactly natter on in the other films, John Wick: Chapter 4 is perhaps his quietest yet. His words spoken throughout the film have been tallied, and it may be a new record for Keanu.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Keanu Reeves only utters 380 words over the entire course of John Wick: Chapter 4, which might be a surprise because the film is almost three hours long.

Wick spoke a total of 484 words in the first film, and given that that film is much shorter, he's clearly opted for a "actions speak louder than words" policy in later entries.

Many have suggested that this proves Keanu isn't worthy of his presumed high fee for appearing in the film, but he more than makes up for this with his remarkable aptitude for action choreography - which has carried the films up until this point. So what if he's quiet? Leave our precious boy Keanu alone.

What's next for John Wick?

Though it'd be unfair and spoilery of us to speculate on the future of the John Wick series, we at least know that there is more to come from the criminal underworld of the franchise.

We know there will be a short limited series based on the glory days of the New York Continental Hotel, which is likely to help bolster Winston and Charon's history. There's also a new spin-off movie, tentatively titled Ballerina and starring Ana de Armas.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake told The Hollywood Reporter Chapter 5 is back on the table after Chapter 4 broke franchise records. Saying "there’s a will and there’s an openness," Drake added that after a rest, the team will "scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five."

The future is bright for stories set in John Wick's world, and we can't wait to see them unfold - though we won't expect Wick to be particularly chatty throughout.
