With $125,000 on the line, Apex Legends' most recent Global Series Split has been smacked with controversy while bugs and glitches continue to ruin the game.

Amid a range of glitches that are killing Apex Legends at the upper echelons of competition, a long-standing bug on Storm Point has now cost one team the opportunity to qualify for the Playoff LAN event in London. One player was turned into a deathbox simply by trying to use the Gravity Cannon.

The glitch - which has been in the game for a number of seasons since Storm Point was added to Apex Legends - has never been fully fixed. After ruining one team's chance at stardom, players have been left furious.

Apex Legends pros die to Gravity Cannon glitch in ALGS match

Heading into the pivotal Final heat in the ALGS Split 2 campaign, one EMEA side was hindered by mysteriously dying at the hands of a Gravity cannon, which ruined their chances of making the Split 2 Playoffs LAN.

"Some context. We landed highpoint and unless we wanted to play on the edge we had to basically rotate fast. Got a great zone for us and then died to a bug," said Jamie "Blasts" Levine on Twitter after showing a clip of his teammate Paweł "lighT" Haratyk being "crushed" by the cannon.

"The rest of the game was f**ked. Got ratted on our box because Myztro [ALGS competitor] saw it happen," he added.

Apex Legends denied LAN qualification by dying to Gravity Cannon glitch

Start a Fight Esports - the team plagued by this glitch - ended up missing out on the Split 2 Playoffs in London following this death, finishing 12th in the EMEA league standings, just three points behind 10th-place Etheral, who catapulted above SAF and into the qualification places in the final heat.

The ALGS player didn't blame the other team for camping on their deathbox either, and rather aimed their frustration at the developers.m"No blame to Myztro, they didn't do anything wrong, it was literally just the most horrible s**t to have happened in the final game for a LAN qualifier," he added.

The roster will have one last crack at making the ALGS 2023 Championship through the Last Chance Qualifier, although they will have to finish in the top two.
