Rumours of a Metal Gear Solid Remake have reignited after leaks suggest that one is currently in development.

Some fans are nervous that Konami has too many projects in the works and fear the quality of these upcoming titles may be at risk.

A Metal Gear Solid Remake is reportedly still in development

As reported by Gameort, Konami has been working on the original Metal Gear Solid remake for years, with the remake reportedly becoming the companies main priority after Metal Gear Solid Delta releases.

In a report shared by Spanish website Areajugones, it was claimed: "Multiple sources tell us that Konami is still working on a remake of the first instalment, although right now Metal Gear Solid Delta is a priority in the studio."

The leak suggests that the game will be available on the PS5 but not the PS4, suggesting that it will be limited to current gen consoles.

Some fans are hesitant to trust Konami with a remake of the beloved game

In light of the leak, some gamers are worried that Konami may be taking on too many projects at once after recent projects and games that fall under its IP have not been especially well received.

One Redditor wrote: “I feel like Konami is rushing into this way too quickly, based on their most recent high profile release, Silent Hill Ascension is a disaster. Hope it isn’t a sign of future projects.”

Several other commenters jumped in to express that they are hesitant to trust Konami with the remake.

One said: “Konami gives fuck all about quality control in their IP. One game could be gold while another could be total shit.”

Another added: “Its Konami, of course they will manage to fuck it up.”

Despite this, several other Reddit users are excited about the prospect of the remake.

It seems unfair to assume the game will be bad based on recent projects, particularly Silent Hill: Ascension which only uses a Konami IP and was not developed by it.

We will have to wait and see what happens, if anything comes of the rumour at all, but it does appear to be a great excuse to jump back into the world of Metal Gear Solid.
