Dr Disrespect Isn't Too Impressed With Vanguard's Champion Hill Alpha
There are three constants in life. Death, taxes, and Dr Disrespect being angry at a Call of Duty title. Herschel Beahm IV’s online persona might be a moody one, but Dr Disrespect’s disdain for the franchise that’s arguably made him the minted streamer he is today is absolutely potent.
In many ways, it’s helped him a lot - after all, people like to see their opinions echoed, and with Warzone dealing with its incredible sum of problems right now, more and more people are looking to air their frustrations.
And it looks like he’s not too enthused with Vanguard, either.
Dr Disrespect Doesn’t Trust Vanguard’s Champion Hill Mode
Dr Disrespect was willing to give Vanguard’s alpha testing a go, and after experiencing the game’s new mode Champion Hill, he has expressed that he’s worried about its longevity.
He seems happy with the game overall despite his apprehension, but it’s Champion Hill itself that’s drawn the criticism.
“The 1v1, the 2v2, the 3v3… you kinda play it, you feel it out for a little bit, it’s cool and thin it’s like ‘what’s the bigger agenda?’” he says after giving the mode a go. “I got a feeling this is what this will fall under. Unless there are elements that are sort of integrated into the battle royale portion or the multiplayer portion. I don’t know what that integration looks like. I don’t know if there’s a ranked system, if that’s even interesting enough.”
What Is Vanguard’s Champion Hill Mode?
Champion Hill has received a lot of critical acclaim (not from Dr Disrespect, obviously), but very few actually know what it’s like unless they’ve been able to get a hold of the game via Vanguard’s alpha testing.
In the mode, you’ll be dropped into a ‘buy area’ with $500. You can use this money to buy weapons, perks and more - and you’ll then be dropped into the fight. Against a random other squad, you’ll fight it out for ultimate supremacy, earning cash for better loadouts with each win until you climb atop the teams who will be eliminated as rounds go on. It’s basically like a March Madness bracket in Call of Duty, and when it gets some competitive ranking, it’s going to be a big draw for Vanguard going forward.
Dr Disrespect can have his reservations, but we think that Champion Hill could be the next big thing for the franchise - and could bring a lot of players to a game that has already seen a lot of scepticism. We’ll see you on the hill when the game launches, yeah?
