Devs Scramble To Save The Callisto Protocol With Patches
Players have been excited to get their hands on The Callisto Protocol for some time. The prospect of a space-based horror packed with aliens and gore (no, not that one) is a riveting one.
Given how starved for content horror fans are, they'll take whatever they can get. And yet, it's not all there. Although The Callisto Protocol seems to be fantastic on the surface, it's is riddled with performance issues that have made it go viral on Twitter and the like.
Players are frustrated to no end that the AAA game simply isn't working, and now, devs are changing gears to make it work.
New Patches For The Callisto Protocol Are Rolling Out
The Callisto Protocol's dev team at Striking Distance is beginning to roll out new patches in hopes of reviving the game's performance. In the meantime, those behind the scenes have thanked players for their patience.
The team have been tweeting about their patch rollout, and trying to keep dissatisfied players from abandoning the game to seek refunds for its poor performance.
"Thanks for your patience," they've said in a recent tweet. "A PC patch is now available to improve gameplay stuttering issues due to shader compilation. After updating, you may see temporary stuttering in the game menu the first time you launch the app. We are working on further optimizations in the days ahead."
It's good to see that the team at Striking Distance is working hard to make sure the sci-fi slaughterfest works - and their CEO has had more to say.
Striking Distance's CEO On The Callisto Protocol Performance - 'We Hear You'
Striking Distance CEO and founder Glen Schofield is known as the creator of the Dead Space games, but for many, The Callisto Protocol is just a poor man's version of it. It's the very core of Callisto that seems to be the problem, as players call out everything from gameplay to story.
Still, Schofield is convinced Striking Distance can turn things around, with a tweet quoting the original patch promising we'll be able to "play the game as intended." It's implied The Callisto Protocol wasn't ready at launch, so why was it released unfinished?
It looks as though all of Striking Distance is on the ball when it comes to the continued support of the game, and replying to a follow-up tweet, it's clear that Schofield is passionate - "It's fight or flight and I'm one helluva fighter. Never giving up. This is our baby and it needs some loving right now." Quite right.
