Managers at that the sweatband manufacturers are currently rolling around in excitement, as their sales are about to rocket again come November 2021.

With the confirmation that Sledgehammer Games are working on the upcoming Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard title, giving the Modern Warfare and Black Ops franchises time to breathe, it appears we're in for another year of mayhem.

The 2021 instalment of the Call of Duty franchise 'will have Skill Based Matchmaking' according to esteemed leaker Tom Henderson (Previously the LongSensation).

SBMM takes higher calibre players and pitches them together by software that determines a player's ability. By calibrating the quality of a player on a certain day, SBMM will force you to play alongside equal players, making for a very 'sweaty' atmosphere where you have to grind in every game to elevate your KD.

The technique has been heavily criticised in Black Ops Cold War amidst a lack of a ranked playlist upon release (later released as League Play).

However, according to Henderson, Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard will have SBMM.

Whilst tweeting thoughts about the campaign's suspected fantasy alternate ending to WW2, Henderson added "Just because it's set in WW2, it doesn't mean we're getting the standard WW2 weapons and killstreaks etc. In fact, because this is going to be a fictional story where the war didn't end, it means we're getting a lot more."

"But also keep in mind that this game will have SBMM, so you know."

The bane of many players' lives, SBMM is used to encourage the lesser players to continue playing by giving them lobbies where better players aren't killing them non-stop. However, it strikes fear into many of the core fanbase, meaning they'll have to get very sweaty in each session.

Hope you're ready for another year of SBMM, get your sweatbands on pre-order early.
