Call of Duty had one of its worst days in the office ever on February 23, as the servers completely collapsed ahead of a weekend of Double XP.

Both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were completely ruined, as custom loadouts were defunct, Store-acquired skins were removed, and skill-based matchmaking was disabled, leaving a free-for-all of talent all using default weapon classes.

But after the madness that ensued, Call of Duty is paying its penance and is now offering a string of goodies to all players as an apology.

Although both branches of the current Call of Duty tree are back up and running, Activision appears keen to repay players for the weekend of anarchy.

Given that we lost one day's worth of Double XP, Call of Duty has now taken to social media to explain that it is extending this period through Tuesday until 6pm GMT.

"We appreciated everyone's patience as we worked through server issues last week," Call of Duty said in a post on Twitter.

All Call of Duty players set to receive free XP boosts

In addition to the extra day of Double XP action, Call of Duty is also dishing out extra tokens to be used by players whenever they wish.

One-hour Double XP tokens are being given to every player for Player, Battle Pass, and Weapon tallies, which will all land in you that added boost you need in your Orion Grind or your advancement of the new guns.
