Call of Duty fans argue MW3 is 'lacking powerful killstreaks'

Call of Duty fans argue that Modern Warfare 3 is 'lacking powerful killstreaks' when compared to Modern Warfare 2 (2009), asking Sledgehammer for a revamp.

There's no better feeling in Call of Duty than racking up countless eliminations in a row, and of course, being rewarded with your favourite killstreaks.

This is certainly no different in the MW3 Beta, where competitors have been making use of the disruptive Guardian-SC, the SAM Turret, and as always, the classic UAV.

However, for some CoD fans, MW3 is "lacking powerful killstreaks," especially when compared to MW2 (2009) where they were unbelievably strong.

Running around the classic MW2 maps is fun, but for some players, without the OP killstreaks, it doesn't feel quite right.

CoD fans slam MW3 for 'lacking powerful killstreaks'

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user Wxgwan decided to voice their opinion that MW3 is "lacking powerful killstreaks" and that they're hoping there are stronger options at release.

For them, the "killstreaks in the OG MW2 was a big contributing factor of why the maps were so fun," so now they're missing, the locations don't play the same way. Other players agree, claiming that the creativity of streaks in recent CoD games has been deteriorating.

"I feel like streaks lately have been boring," said one user, with another arguing, "I say bring back the overpowered AC130/ Chopper gunner, back then they were very easy to get."

Some fans even think "streaks should help get other streaks," but that would likely result in every match being overrun with killstreaks, similar to the days of MW2 (2009).

MW3 Killstreak

While the days of MW2 (2009) are often remembered as the golden era of CoD, some players believe the killstreaks are being looked back on with rose-tinted glasses.

In their opinion, bringing MW2 (2009)'s OP streaks to MW2 would be a massive mistake, and ruin the flow of matches.

"Contrary to popular belief being killed by harrier pavelow ac130 for the entire duration of the game was not too enjoyable," said one user, with another arguing "I don’t know how people are begging for KS kills to count for KS, that’s just cheese."

Either way, CoD devs often hold back a number of killstreaks from the Beta and save them for full release. Whether they're going to OP or not is a mystery for now, but there are supporters on both sides of the debate.
