Apex Legends' new season is right around the corner, so players have every reason to be excited about it. With changes to an existing map, an all-new game mode, and a new playable character in the shape of Mad Maggie, season 12 is shaping up to be a very dramatic, and very exciting, addition to Apex Legends' gameplay.
But, with the positives must come negatives in turn. A new season comes with plenty of buffs and nerfs, but this time, it's Caustic mains who aren't going to like what's coming at all.
Caustic's Gas Trap Has Been Seriously Nerfed
Although Caustic has already been the victim of many nerfs in the Apex Legends' lifetime, he's about to take another. Sadly, it's one of the most drastic of recent years. It has now been revealed that by the time the new season rolls around, Caustic's noxious gas traps will be able to be deactivated with gunfire in the right spot - even when it has already been activated.
The gas traps were once only able to be destroyed if it hadn't been activated yet, but this change will drastically decrease their usefulness. Though the trap can still only be destroyed and the trap's effects until deactivated will still hang in the air, this is still a problem for the character, as his traps are a huge part of his effectiveness.
Will This Nerf Endanger Caustic's Pick Rate?
Realistically, this is a change that's going to rub a lot of Caustic mains the wrong way, and as such, will probably affect his pick rate - but there's every chance that this change might not affect his usefulness entirely.
We'll have to wait and see if this change really alters the way that Caustic plays, as many players are used to tucking their traps away out of sight, but this could threaten to make the character plummet in popularity.
Remembering that Caustic sits around the middle of the pack in terms of pick, we're expecting him to tumble this time around. Apex Legends season 12 is promising, but it just became much less exciting for Caustic mains. Sorry, you lot - looks like the fight just got a lot tougher.
