The Final Fantasy takeover of Apex Legends introduced a huge amount of changes to spice up the experience, including the Buster Sword and Materia which give weapons unique abilities.

These Materia act similarly to hop-ups, and while all of them are powerful, the red one is causing a stir in the community.

When put on a Mozambique or Havoc, this attachment will summon a Nessie to fight by your side and attack any foes in your path. While competitors expected these cute companions to be weak, they're actually unbelievably strong.

So much so that the community has labelled them as "super annoying" and wants the "aimbot" Nessies removed from the takeover.

Apex Legends players hate "super annoying" Nessies

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user da_Aresinger decided to voice their frustration about the unbelievably strong and "clairvoyant" Nessies.

"Who thought it was ok to make clairvoyant enemy alert systems, that hunt down anyone within your half of the map and are able to climb literally anywhere? It is absolutely impossible to outplay them so you have to waste your ammo on them."

Others agree with the post, arguing that "everything about this LTM is stupid" as "no skill" is required to succeed, meaning it feels like the outcome of matches is not in your control.

There are some Apex fans who are so angry about the cute Nessies, that they're convinced the game will have lost at least "lost 30k players" because of the event. Whether that's true or not is unclear, we'll just have to wait and see.

Other Apex Legends fans think Nessies are the "best part" of the mode

Not everyone is frustrated, though, with a big portion of the community seeing the "hilarious" side of being hunted down by a big fluffy toy.

"I just find it all hilarious tbh and am enjoying the absurdity of holding the door for them or they hammer them down aggressively," said one user, with another claiming, "Nessie is the best part of this mode, I’ve had them kill me too and a game and had mine win a game for me, it’s so good."

Ultimately, this takeover may be temporary, but it's divided the playerbase. Being hunted down by a rampant and angry Nessie is just too much for some competitors, whereas, for others, it never fails to make them smile.
