Apex Legends' Ranked mode is meant to be the place where highly competitive players can go to push their skills to the limit.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad actors who aren't trying to abide by the rules and have no problem ruining the experience for everyone else.

On PC, that usually involves third-party software that enables aimbots, wallhacks, and super speed for hackers. It's a little different for console, with cheaters instead teaming up together to guarantee wins and climb up to Predator.

Teaming Apex Legends squads are taking over console Ranked

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit, user by_Zyno decided to post a clip showing how poor the quality of Ranked matches has become on console.

Unlike PC, where hacks are running rampant, PlayStation and Xbox competitors are dealing with squads teaming together to make groups of "6/9/12." After reaching the endgame, these cheaters then decide who gets to claim the most points, making it easy for them to climb to Pred.

As you would imagine, facing a team of six, let alone 12, makes it nearly impossible to win a match as a trio. You don't even have to play well in Ranked when you have such a big numbers advantage and extra resources.

Heading to the spectate screen, by_Zyno showcases all the cheaters congregating and making no effort to eliminate each other.

Why don't teaming cheaters get banned quickly in Apex Legends?

The reason these cheaters aren't banned is that Respawn can't detect teaming like it can with third-party software. With cheating teams, they have to rely on clips or manual reports to hand out punishments and as a result, it tends to go under the radar for longer.

This is why console players find this so frustrating, as it feels like it has been an issue in Ranked for such a long time and not enough punishments are being handed out. Unless the devs can find a way to track teaming behaviour, it doesn't feel like this is going away anytime soon.
