One thing that Apex Legends has been missing so far is a way for players to flex on their friends and foes in a straight-up shootout.

Unlike other games like Call of Duty having the Gulag to enhance that deep-rooted 1v1 showcase mentality, Apex Legends has lacked in that area. Instead, it focuses on team cohesion rather than individual flexing. That's about to change, as Apex Legends Season 17 is adding a Gulag-like 1v1 arena.

Apex Legends to receive huge firing range overhaul

The Apex Legends developers are hard at work adding a range of changes to the game in Season 17, including massive adaptations to World's Edge and a brand-new legend, Ballistic.

But, one of the most exciting new features that will be coming is an overhaul to the Firing Range, including the addition of a 1v1 duelling pit. This makeshift town lets you practice game-like skirmishes, and an area to take on lifelike bots.

All of these changes will come into play to overhaul the normal Firing Range, which at the moment, consists of just a few targets.

The highlight of the changes comes with the 1v1 Duelling Pit, which arrives as a form of Gulag akin to Call of Duty. Here, you can challenge enemies or friends to a straight-up shootout or even incorporate a Legend's abilities to emerge victorious.

Fortunately, the arena will be restricted to just the Frining Range, and won't make an appearance in the actual Apex Legends battle royale experience as a sort of second-life chance.

Still, Season 17 will now offer up the chance to silence smack-talkers or boast your skill in front of friends, all of which will help you win those all-important gunfights in World's Edge and Kings Canyon.
