Alice Game Artist Shares New Images Of Upcoming Sequel And It Looks Incredible
An artist who is currently working on pre-production art for a sequel to the incredible Alice game, has started an Instagram account where he is sharing beautiful concept images for the upcoming title.
Adam Narozanski, a digital artist, illustrator, and concept artist, is working on the latest in the game series, and the images are stunning. His Instagram account is currently only sitting on 260 followers, which is quite unbelievable when you look at the quality of his work.
Creator American McGee recently confirmed that he was officially working on a new Alice game. The original game (released in 2000) was followed by Alice: Madness Returns eleven years later in 2011, so the next instalment is due.
For those new to the game, the story centres on the titular Alice after her parents are killed in a house fire. Waking up in a psychiatric facility, Alice's damaged mind retreats to Wonderland, which has also been disfigured by her mental trauma. McGee was known for his work on games including DOOM and Quake when he worked at id Software, but decided to take on a completely new challenge with Alice.
McGee has been sharing other concept artists' work on his Twitter, with one in particular blowing our minds. He captioned the image: "Sections of detail from @OmriKoresh's latest illustration for Alice: Asylum. This scene is taken from the Asylum narrative and features Alice running through a battle between Chess Pieces, Card Guards, and Chaos Monsters. The full illustration is over on my Patreon."
The road to Asylum has been a long one, with McGee deciding to self-publish rather than go through Electronic Arts. The idea is that self-publishing would open the door to a whole host of merchandise and books (and a potential movie) without having to go through the legal hoops of EA.
Discussing the game on his Patreon, McGee explained, "A large component of my pitch to EA revolves around the idea that the Alice license should result in the creation of tons of physical goods - collector game boxes, toys, jewelry, clothing, etc. This was always my desire - going back to the "invention" of the franchise... but something I wasn't able to fully execute on because various portions of the IP were being controlled by different parties". In 2015, a petition called "Let American McGee make a new Alice game" gained over 26,000 signatures.
As Asylum is a crowdfunded affair, it means it's described as "the world's first ever crowd-designed triple-A game", meaning it's quite the feat. Asylum is set before the events of the original game and will presumably focus on Alice dealing with the death of her parents.
