Fans are waiting and waiting for the world of Alan Wake to get bigger. After the critical success of Alan Wake 2, we know some fresh DLC content will expand Bright Falls beyond our expectations. Even though Alan himself (Sam Lake) has confirmed it won't be as big as Control's AWE DLC, fans expect more overlap in the Remedyverse's titles.

As we wait for mere additions, it has been confirmed by Remedy Games that if we get another Alan Wake story, we won't have to suffer the same wait we once did for the return of the author. It turns out 13 years really is too long to wait for a sequel.

Alan Wake sequels won't take so long this time

Alan Wake suffered some stark development troubles after it launched, with Sam Lake being forced to temper expectations for the then-planned sequel. Lake told fans in a video address that the company simply couldn't afford to make it in the way that it wanted.

Now, as we have a revitalised Alan Wake 2 in our hands, it looks like the huge and unintentional wait between the first two games won’t be happening again. It sounds like good news for our hopes of Alan Wake 3.

Remedy's 2023 financial statements have been released, and CEO Tero Virtala has spoken both on Alan Wake 2 and the future of the Control series. Virtala suggests that both franchises are "major" in their eyes now, and that we can expect more from them in a more compact amount of time.

"With Alan Wake and Control we now have two established franchises, and our ambition is to grow them into franchises that have high brand recognition, steadily growing user base, more regular cadence of sequels and an ability to generate revenues and profits at a high level," he says.

Remedy Games still owes Epic Games a wad

Alan Wake 2 might have sold well and proven a strong success for Remedy, but according to Virtala, there's still some money that needs to go back to Epic Games. Remember that Epic is a company that helped to host the game on PC and offer some investment in its development.

Virtala reveals that along with Alan Wake 2 being the fastest selling game in the company’s history, Remedy has already "recouped a significant part of the investments made by Epic Games Publishing, and we expect the game to be a meaningful revenue and profitability driver for the year."

It's great news for the company which has pushed the envelope for narrative titles for many years, with its recent offerings proving their incredible talents. Few AAA teams deserve success like Remedy does, and to see it come to life is a dream. Bring on the first Alan Wake 2 DLC, then bring on Alan Wake 3!
