The eventual spin-off of WandaVision - focussed on everyone's new favourite witch, Agatha Harkness - was both an inevitability, being the biggest no-brainer that the MCU could have made.

Harkness was an instant icon, and it certainly wasn't a problem that her theme song was an Emmy-winning tune that was a total banger, so it was only right that she got her own show.

Once titled Agatha: House of Harkness, Coven of Chaos seems to follow our expectations of Agatha herself, and though we don't know a lot right now, we've had some very exciting updates along the way. So - what exactly do we know about Agatha: Coven of Chaos cast, story, and more?

What do we know about Agatha: Coven of Chaos

There's no word on a potential release date for Coven of Chaos just yet, though Coven of Chaos is supposed to be coming in "late" 2023 to Disney Plus.

Of course, the MCU's television offerings seem to be on a strong rotation right now, with What If..? season two and Secret Invasion coming first. With complaints of franchise fatigue in the MCU, and reports Echo is facing production problems, there are whispers that Coven of Chaos could now rock up at some point in 2024.

A report from Disney Japan (via The Direct) claims only Secret Invasion, Loki, and Ironheart will land this year, further hinting that Coven of Chaos will be a 2024 release.

There's clearly a lot of work yet to go on the show, but we're confident that it's going to be another MCU juggernaut by the time it makes it to Disney+.

Of course, the enchanting Kathryn Hahn is set to return as the titular troublemaker, but we've also had some recent revelations when it comes to other members of the cast too.

There are two characters that we know will be making their return, and that's the Westview residents Dottie and Mrs. Hart, played by Emma Caulfield and Debra Jo Rupp. We're not sure yet how they fit into the story (going under their civilian names), but chances are it will have something to do with the reflection in memory of Westview.

Not only that, but Variety confirmed Heartstopper breakout star Joe Locke has been added to the show. His role isn't confirmed yet, but all signs point to him playing an older version of Wanda's son, Billy. Having a more mature version of the character would definitely set him up as Wiccan for the Young Avengers.

If this wasn't enough, the iconic Audrey Plaza (via EW) and Patti LuPone star as-yet unidentified characters. It's implied they'll be serving as antagonists to Harkness, so could they be a new coven? It's fighting fire with fire, we suppose.

Finally, fans are also hoping that Elizabeth Olsen will be returning as Scarlet Witch. Given her apparent demise during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it might be a little too soon to give Scarlet Witch a shock resurrection.

Sadly, we don't know anything about the Coven of Chaos story just yet, but perhaps the show's old title being House of Harkness implies that there's a family aspect to the show. We could even see Agatha reconcile with her past and betrayal of her coven?

Equally, in the comics, Agatha's son Nicholas Scratch is the father to Salem's Seven, the shapeshifting supervillain family that could yet see a look-in to the MCU.

We haven't seen Agatha's children or grandchildren yet, but with the universe's tangents across space and time, we're sure the show could find a way to introduce them comfortably.

We last left Agatha under the curse of Wanda's memory wipe in Westview, but as the show's title suggests, it likely won't be long until she's up to her old tricks and causing "chaos" for us all.
