Survival games can be nail biting experiences, but when you couple in the fact you’re character is even smaller than an ant, you’re going to be up against some pretty serious perils. Grounded introduced players to this concept and Smalland: Survive the Wilds aims to go even further.

This early access title is quickly growing as word of mouth spreads, and with it, more players are discovering new elements of the game. As with many other survival games, you will spend a bunch of your time gathering materials and improving your character. Starting off, you’re fairly weak, but it won’t be long before you’re tackling bigger threats.

One commonly needed resource is Chitin, and if you’re new to Smalland: Survive the Wilds, you may be unclear as to where you can find them. To help you out, we’ve detailed exactly where you can find Chitin in Smallland: Survive the Wilds to save you some frustration.

The world of Smalland: Survive the Wilds is an intimidating one - especially when everything towers over you in this deadly landscape. In the early hours, you’ll be fairly weak, but don’t worry, you should still be able to come across Chitin relatively easily.

Chitin is dropped from Sawyer Beetles, which are found just southwest of the starting area, near the beach. These pesky bugs can be a bit of a challenge to take down, however, their attack pattern is extremely easy to predict and overcome.

Using a stronger weapon, such as a sword or a club, simply learn their move set and get in a few hits as and when you can. It may take a little bit of patience, but once you’ve whittled down their health enough, you will be rewarded with Chitin in Smalland: Survive the Wilds.

Also, be aware that Sawyer Beetles tend to hand around by a cliff edge, so be sure not to fall off the edge while in combat with one, else you’ll be in for more than a nasty headache.
