Sul sul, Simmers, it's time for another DLC to be added to The Sims 4's ever-expanding offering of content, this time in the form of the For Rent Expansion Pack. We've already seen our fair share of Packs released in The Sims 4 this year alone, with the return of Stuff Packs in the form of Home Chef Hustle being to most recent addition to the game.

Thankfully, we've already got all of the details on when For Rent is due to release in The Sims 4, alongside a trailer that gives us a pretty in-depth look at what's on the way once it launches - so here's a rundown of all we know.

When does The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Pack release?

As shared during the reveal trailer, For Rent will be released on December 7, 2023 - that's not much time at all!

Additionally, if Simmers purchase For Rent anytime between November 2, 2023, and January 18, 2024, there'll also be three special items available to use in-game with the Street Eats Digital content: Peak Freshness Fruit Basket, Quick Treats Grill, and the Streetside Stars Shade.

What is the new world in The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion?

The new world in For Rent will be the Southeast Asian-inspired world of Tomarang. As shared on The Sims' official blog post, it's set to be "a scenic world nestled in a lush tropical landscape and vibrant city skyline."

During the reveal trailer, we also got a little sneak peek at what the world looks like, a screenshot of which you can see below:

Interestingly, The Sims team have consulted with Jason Chu, an American-Asian rapper, in order to "deliver more choices with how players explore and express their individuality."

We also now know that there will be 9 lots within the world, and two neighbourhoods, which was discussed during the developer gameplay walkthrough hosted on December 1, 2023, on The Sims' YouTube channel.

Thanks to the trailers and blog posts, we've already got a fair amount of details on what we will be adding to our game when installing For Rent. From the new Residential Rental lot type to dishes like Tofu Pad Thai, here's a rundown of all we know so far:

  • New foods such as Halo-halo, Thai Iced Milk Tea, Khao Niao Mamuang, and Banh Cuon
  • Multiple Sim households can live on the same lot in any livable world in Residental Rentals
  • Community events like Potlucks and Pool Parties
  • Sims can become Property Owners to generate income and do inspections
  • Four new Aspirations, five new Traits, and one new Fear
    • Aspirations: Seeker of Secrets, a Five-Star Property Owner, Fount of Tomarani Knowledge, Discerning Dweller
    • Traits: Child of the Village, Cringe, Generous, Nosy, Wise (Elder only)
  • New Water Heater and Electrical Box objects
  • A new Handyperson career
  • A Mold Lot Challenge

There are also plenty of new CAS and Build/Buy items on offer, with new hairstyles, clothes, and everything from Squat toilets to radiators, pressure cookers, and kettles available in the DLC.

What's more, as shared in our review in progress, there's even a new death caused by a new illness, Moldinitis, which occurs due to, you guessed it - mould. If a lot has the 'Mold' Lot Challenge enabled, dirty appliances can cause toxic and allergenic mould to grow throughout a home.

If left, Sims will likely get sick and can end up looking like the screenshot below:

How much does The Sims 4 For Rent cost?

Following the standard price points for Expansion Packs in The Sims 4, For Rent costs £34.99 / $39.99, and can be purchased now on the EA website.
