Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island is an upcoming crossover event that will tie two legendary pirating franchises together. Sea of Thieves is known for making big additions to the game, but few have been on the scale of this one.

The Legend of Monkey Island is a crossover that will take place over three Tall Tales, chapters if you will that will through which players will meet many classic characters, visit legendary locales, and solve some mysteries along the way. Here is everything you need to know about Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island.

The release date for the first Tall Tale from The Legend of Monkey Island is July 20. Players will not have to wait very long at all to begin adventuring with Guybrush and the others. As mentioned, this is the release date for the first Tall Tale in the series.

The Legend of Monkey Island is planned to span three Tall Tales, which will release for free over the course of three months. As such, we can likely expect the second Tall Tale in the series to release in August, and the final chapter to release in September.

There seems to be quite a lot of content from the Monkey Island series making its way to Sea of Thieves throughout this crossover. With the release of the first Tall Tale in July, players will be able to explore Melee Island, and likely visit locations like the Scumm Bar, Stan's Secondhand Shipyard, and the Governor's Mansion.

There they will find that Guybrush Threepwood is somehow now the governor and that the island's inhabitants look up to him as the mighty pirate he has always claimed to be. Something clearly isn't right with this, so players will need to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Further Tall Tales will likely take players further afield, and bring in other characters like Elaine Marley and the demon pirate LeChuck. Nothing is confirmed just yet, but it seems more than likely that players will also get to visit the eponymous Monkey Island at some point in the adventure.

In the Guided Tour of Monkey Island trailer, we got a look at all of the locations on the island we can visit in the game. From the Scumm Bar, to the Governor's Mansion, all the way to Stan's Previously Owned Vessels, Melee Island will be ours to explore.
