The first Pokemon GO Community Day of 2023 is already here, this time being all about the Grass-Type Gen-Six Kalos starter, Chespin. Along with being able to catch many more of the Spiny Nut Pokemon between 2PM and 5PM on Saturday, 7 January 2023 local time, the Chespin Community Day comes with an array of free rewards. However, there's also the optional Special Research story you can pay for: Quality Quills. Let's get into whether you should get the Quality Quills Pokemon GO Special Research.

Paid Special Research has been a part of Pokemon GO events for some time. Whilst it is entirely optional, taking part in the Quality Quills Pokemon GO Special Research will treat you to an exclusive story around Chespin and will earn you exclusive rewards over multiple tasks.

The details around this Special Research story, its tasks, and its rewards are yet to be revealed. However, this ticket - which can also be bought in advance from now until the end of the event - only costs $1.00 or the equivalent in your local currency.

Nevertheless, the bonus Pokeballs, items, berries, Pokemon Encounters, Stardust, or EXP - no matter which or how much it may be - along with the fun of an exclusive Chespin story, is definitely worth such a small investment. That's especially if you'll be taking part in the Community Day for the majority of the event.

Keep in mind though, you must purchase and complete the Quality Quills Pokemon GO Special Research by the end of the event to enjoy its rewards.

In terms of standard Field Research Tasks, the Chespin Community Day will feature a "Catch 3 Chespin" task. This can reward you with an additional Chespin Encounter (434-469CP), Great Ball x 5, Ultra Ball x 2, Pinap Berry x 2, or Stardust x 500.

Fitting with those of the past in Pokemon GO, the Chespin Community Day comes with the following bonuses whilst running from 2PM to 5PM on Saturday 7 January 2023:

  • Increased Chespin spawns and a higher chance of encountering a Shiny
  • Egg Hatch Distance reduced to 1/4
  • Incenses last for three hours
  • Lures last for three hours
  • Earn 2 x Catch Candy
  • Double the chance for Candy XL when catching Pokemon
  • One additional Special Trade per day (Two max)
  • 50% less Stardust required for trades
  • Can get event-themed Chespin stickers via PokeStops, Gifts, or the in-game shop.

What's more, if you evolve a Chespin into Quilladin five hours after the event, 10PM local time on 7 January, it will exclusively learn the Frenzy Plant Charged Attack. Quilladin will also appear in four-star raids as well, so keep an eye out for gyms on your local map.
