Sticking to the best gym order in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a good idea if you don't want to see your Pokemon stomped by a stronger team. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the first foray into an open-world design, giving players the choice of which gyms to tackle first.

The best gym order is the one which takes you through the gyms in ascending order. To make life a bit easier, here is the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet best gym order.

Early on in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you are given free rein to travel around the Paldea region however you like. You are not locked into taking on your various objectives in any particular order. However, the difficulty of each objective is set, the levels of the Pokemon you face do not change.

This means you can and arguably should take on the gyms in order from lowest recommended level to highest. That order is as follows:

  • Cortondo Gym (Katy) - Recommended Level 14
  • Artazon Gym (Brassius) - Recommended Level 16
  • Levincia Gym (Iono) - Recommended Level 23
  • Cascarrafa Gym (Kofu) - Recommended Level 29
  • Medali Gym (Larry) - Recommended Level 35
  • Alfornada Gym (Tulip) - Recommended Level 41
  • Montenevera Gym (Ryme) - Recommended Level 44
  • Glaseado Gym (Grusha) - Recommended Level 47

Be warned, there are some spoilers ahead if you have not finished the Pokemon League and the majority of the game's main story.

To fully complete the game, you need to take on all of the gyms twice. In the post-game, after dealing with the Area Zero situation, you are tasked with assessing the gym leaders on behalf of Geeta. As you can imagine, the gym leaders are a much greater challenge the second time around.

However, the second time around, the leaders all have similarly levelled Pokemon. Each of them has a team of six Pokemon around level 65. As such, you can take on the gyms this time in absolutely any order, whatever is most convenient for you.
