Shiny rates in Pokemon Legends Arceus are similar to previous games. To explain, shiny Pokemon are extremely rare but most Pokemon games include ways to improve your chances. The base rate of finding a shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus is one in 4096. Those odds aren't great, but there are things you can do to improve them.

Firstly, filling out your Pokedex can help in many ways. For specific Pokemon, having their Pokedex entry research level at level 10 will double your chances of finding a shiny version of that Pokemon. Full completion of the Pokedex entry will double your chances again.

This all sounds good, but that only brings us to a one in 1024 chance of a shiny. Also, maxing out a Pokedex entry can be a lot of work, so maybe just be sure to hit the research level 10 and you should be good.

Another great way to improve your chances of finding shiny Pokemon is getting yourself the Shiny Charm. The Shiny Charm further increases your odds, having the charm on top of filling out each Pokedex entry drops your chances to around one in 800. As with previous games, getting the Shiny Charm is a reward for filling the Pokedex, so it is also a lot of work to acquire.

Regardless of how many of the previous tips you use, the number one thing you need to do when hunting shinies is use Pokemon Legends Arceus Mass Outbreaks. Mass Outbreaks are random events that occur around Hisui. Occasionally when you are leaving the village, the gate guard will tell you there is a Mass Outbreak happening. When you go to the map, you will see pictures of Pokemon over regions where Mass Outbreaks of those Pokemon are happening.

A Mass Outbreak means several of the same Pokemon will spawn together. Not only does this mean more Pokemon so more chances of a shiny, but there is an increased chance of shinies on top of that. Where having research level 10 or a perfect entry double and quadruple your odds respectively, a Mass Outbreak is a 26 times increase to your chance of finding a shiny. With no other increases, your odds of finding a shiny in a Mass Outbreak is roughly one in 158.

To catch specific shiny Pokemon you can either repeatedly scout the areas they spawn, or leave and return to Jubilife repeatedly until a Mass Outbreak of the Pokemon you want begins. If you just want to collect shinies, take any Mass Outbreak you get.

To all but guarantee a shiny from a Mass Outbreak, it is possible to reset the outbreak. Travel to a Mass Outbreak and save your game (also, turn autosave off). Catch or defeat the Pokemon until you have exhausted the Mass Outbreak. No Shinies? No problem, turn off the game and reload. When you reload, head back to Jubilife. Then return to the outbreak location to refresh the Pokemon and try again. Rinse and repeat this method to get yourself a shiny Pokemon.
